No indication of interest in Maya Nnaji? She is a highly ranked big and already familiar to Paige?
No indication of interest by UConn. They have their bigs for this year.

Maya's finalists are: Arizona, Stanford, Florida, UCLA, Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina, Oregon and Virginia.

Guess? Arizona or SCar.

Has UConn made an offer to Aalyah Del Rosario?
She has not announced a UConn offer, and remember that schools cannot announce offers made. No prospects have announced any offers from UConn for 2023.

It's common belief that UConn is interested, but we never know for sure till they commit. Even prospects who announce a list of finalists may not have an actual offer - just interest.

Keep in mind that college visit as well as in person recruiting has been suspended until 31 May 2021. No worries. I'm pretty sure I saw an entry on CD's calendar that she was going to be in Trenton, NJ on 1 June.

It's also common knowledge that UConn is typically later in the process when an offer is issued that other coaches aka Jeff Walz. UConn seems to show a lot of interest and make sure there is a level of mutual interest before issuing the paperwork.

They usually want a recruit to have come to the campus as well which generally tips us off to interest. Tiff Hayes blew that one out of the water when she committed and no one had any idea Uconn was interested and she hadn't ever been to CT. And of course Jane Appel and her father showed the dangers of having a recruit visit in winter, however much the coaches coveted her.

While I like the idea and agree with the concept, I don't think it actually applies specifically to the players mentioned. Moriah was the next PG when she committed, and what she really needed to learn as a freshman was how to use her skills, specifically her speed within the team and not outrun them. Kelly and KLS started as freshman, and KML was used as the designated spot up shooter (as was KLS) as a freshman and worked into a more complete role as the team built around her. Kiah never developed as a significant offense threat, nor did Kelly. And I don't think Coombs spent enough time in the program to determine what she was lacking - it just wasn't a good fit - same for AEH.

Geno generally tries to find a simple role for freshman and then expands their roles as they progress. With the best players he pushes them harder to expand their comfort zone, with more limited players he helps them find their level.
Kelly didn't start in 2010.

If you want a defensive specialist, let's find a shut down guard who can match up with the growing list of small but exceptionally fast and quick players who had their way with UConn this year. Muhl brings energy but she is not a shut down guard in these situations - no one on UConn is.
Or find a big that blocked those shots from quick guards like Dolson, Stokes and Stewart did.

She needs to become a basketball player and not just athletic.
When UConn went on its 19-0 run to overtake Baylor in the Elite 8 game Aubrey didn’t score a single point. What she did do was play lockdown defense on NaLyssa Smith, Baylor’s best player, while also switching off twice to force 2 turnovers by taking charging calls on Carrington. While Aubrey didn’t have anything to do with the 19, she had a lot to do with the 0.

It would be great if Aubrey could contribute more at the offensive end. But so long as she can play defense like she does, Geno will find minutes for her.

Against Arizona played 6 minutes and did nothing.

Great point, but ... she doesn't need to score on offense but she needs to be fully integrated in the offense. Too often this year a player had to point to where she needed to be setting a screen, or moving her to a different spot on the floor. Her offensive rebounding is great, but helping the offense flow is also important.

So should we evaluate Aubrey’s value to the team by the AZ game or the Baylor game?
For me neither, if she doesn't become a basketball player instead of just an athlete with the 3 frosh as good as advertised then Aubrey won't be playing much next year.

X-ray vision or whatever else you may call it, why not if it works. I prefer my method I use esp and Tarot cards.

And if the 3 frosh struggle to defend college players, are you still OK playing them over Aubrey?

An argument can be made based on a typical season with the conference we are in that a player's value should be measured on about the 8-10 games that matter... The rest are wins even if the players don't give their all....
