1995. Then made the best decision to attend UConn for grad school.

Really weird box score for him. Played 18min, High scorer 22 pts, no missed shots, no turnovers, couple of assists, 3 rbs, 15 point win ... yet his +/- was -8, the only Richmond player with a negative +/-. I can't figure how that could happen.

If there was ever an example of why +/- is an unreliable stat…

Many of us saw he had talent (he can shoot it and had a solid handle for a player with his length) when he got some late game PT.

He's just a player who needed more time to get stronger and I'm sure he believed that it would be a challenge to earn a significant role based on the talent around him.

I wish him success and hope he works hard on his body and game and develops into a really good player who will earn some money at the next level wherever he lands.

In all honesty, I cannot either. It always seemed like he'd come in in garbage time, play the point, drain a 3, and just look like he could play. One of the games he hit a gorgeous driving lefty layup in traffic, too. Would not be surprised in the least if he puts up some really big #'s at RIchmond.

You have to make winning plays at both ends of the floor, especially if Dan Hurley is the coach. But damn he can shoot.

Yep I would watch him during warmups and he never missed
 
To add to the mysteries of the game, there are some players who perform much better in games than they do in practice. Probably very rare, but how can a coach justify or pick out such players? Trial and error is one way. May be costly.
 
Leading in scoring while having the worst +/- has to be a pretty rare feat. He had a few assists, no TOs, and a respectable 3 rebounds in 13 minutes. Works out to over 9 per 40. Richmond either played amazing lockdown defense in the other 27 minutes or their opponent went ice cold.

Perhaps nobody else on Richmond was hitting when he was in? I know he's not known for great defense, but no one defender could be so bad as to compile that statistic when scoring that efficiently.

Actually, I misread. He played 18 min, not 13. Therefore, the 3 rebounds (all on defense) works out to about 7. Still not bad for a guard. With him playing 18 min instead of 13, it makes his +/- all the more bizarre.
 
Speculating from the box score it looks like he was the 9th man. Hopefully this type of performance can earn him more minutes moving forward.
 
Encouraging game from Apos. He should be a key contributor for Richmond this year. There's always minutes for shooters. Hope his defense is improving. The +/- thing is weird, though it could also be a statistical error. It's a scrimmage for the statisticians too.
 
Based on the Castle comments in the NBA thread some probably think Apostolos wasn't used correctly last season:). I do hope he has a great career at Richmond.
