Hello fellow Spider alum! Yes, thrilled for Romouglou and Richmond. Mooney is a player's coach and having chatted with him I understand why his demeanor resonates. Romouglou will get a good degree and as HeyAdrien suggests he will have a chance to start or come off the bench. UR lost two starting wings -- Biggelow and Dji Bailey (who transferred to LSU), plus a bench forward (Noyes), so minutes are open on the wings.Love this for him - great landing spot. I am one of a few Richmond alums on this board - kind of fun to see someone go from the Huskies to the Spiders
Spiders Add 2-Time National Champion Apostolos Roumoglou - University of Richmond Athletics
What year are you? I’m 2020Hello fellow Spider alum! Yes, thrilled for Romouglou and Richmond. Mooney is a player's coach and having chatted with him I understand why his demeanor resonates. Mooney has a thing for short, speedy guards (see Jacob Gilyard (pro) ,and Jordan King from last year to name only two.), so they need length on the wings.
On a personal note, it's nice to see another UConn-Richmond connection-- on this board and now with Romouglou!
I must be blocking the other thread creator I guess. The 2nd person to post this.
Sorry, didn't mean to start anything. The first thing I read came on the Romo to the portal thread. Then I click back and your post was up. I was on a roll and in my mind I was being conversational, not critical.I must be blocking the other thread creator I guess.
I agree, he can put shots /points up.I think AR is going to kill it down in Richmond. Great fit. Husky Pride.
And Name of the Year
1995. Then made the best decision to attend UConn for grad school. What year are you? I’m 2020
I know there are at least a couple others here
That’s great. I’m from Tolland born and raised, then went to Richmond for undergrad and absolutely loved it1995. Then made the best decision to attend UConn for grad school.
Are you from VA, CT, or somewhere else?
Cheers.
Impossible stat line. Lol.!Really weird box score for him. Played 18min, High scorer 22 pts, no missed shots, no turnovers, couple of assists, 3 rbs, 15 point win ... yet his +/- was -8, the only Richmond player with a negative +/-. I can't figure how that could happen.

New Math.Impossible stat line. Lol.!
Maybe the first ever thank you post for a transfer, but he deserves it. He is so well-liked by his coaches and teammates. Hope he kills it in Richmond.
To this day, I have still yet to see him miss a shot...
In all honesty, I cannot either. It always seemed like he'd come in in garbage time, play the point, drain a 3, and just look like he could play. One of the games he hit a gorgeous driving lefty layup in traffic, too. Would not be surprised in the least if he puts up some really big #'s at RIchmond.
Yep I would watch him during warmups and he never missedIn all honesty, I cannot either. Why can't we get kids like that?In an exhibition game against ODU (94-79 Richmond), AR-33 was 8-8 (5-5 3pt) for 22 Pts. Hmmmmm. Good for Apostolos!!
Actually, I misread. He played 18 min, not 13. Therefore, the 3 rebounds (all on defense) works out to about 7. Still not bad for a guard. With him playing 18 min instead of 13, it makes his +/- all the more bizarre.Leading in scoring while having the worst +/- has to be a pretty rare feat. He had a few assists, no TOs, and a respectable 3 rebounds in 13 minutes. Works out to over 9 per 40. Richmond either played amazing lockdown defense in the other 27 minutes or their opponent went ice cold.
Perhaps nobody else on Richmond was hitting when he was in? I know he's not known for great defense, but no one defender could be so bad as to compile that statistic when scoring that efficiently.
I was there too! March 1988Good news! I have very fond memories of watching the Spiders upset Bobby Knight and the Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament at the Hartford Civic Center many moons ago!
