As long as we are ranked number 1 as of April 6, 2026 this weekly ranking means nothing. I think we will be fine as a 1 or 2 seed in the tournament - a 2 seed would give us a “run it back” opportunity and would be very motivating.

I felt watching UConn destroy Xavier was boring. Saying that how can LSU play teams similiar to X and score over 100pts and think they are accomplishing anything or getting better???????? I just think its a waste of time. Now about the BE Not much we can do about that however there is much LSU can do about their scheduling

On Massey, LSU's SoS is 191 and still ranked #5. But I guess using last season info is sure helping with that.

Eight writers flipped their vote to Texas - we had 30 first-place votes last week, this week 22. I assume the two voters for UCLA & SC last week voted for Texas this week.

A bad SOS can be (largely) overcome with sufficiently good play^ and margin of victory.

^Massey factors in additional metrics besides SOS and MOV

I agree. I noticed that the UConn blow out of Xavier did add some distance from Texas so winning big helps.

With so many inputs, probably hard to say how much each event factored in without a very detailed understanding of the Massey formula. In addition to the game results, a bunch of teams played which would impact SOS and last year's value is getting less value vs this year's -- affecting both UConn and TX.

Don't hold your breath about LSU. Kim Mulkey has stated she prefers playing an easier non-conference schedule for team evaluation and development as well as giving new players time to adjust. Plus being in the SEC ensures the team will be tested before the NCAA tournament. Guess you can't argue with that much because she has a successful track record.

She did the same thing while she was the coach of Baylor. She would play one or two top teams then the rest were cupcakes.
