Preseason, I can't really say I disagree with this ranking. Maybe 3rd instead of 4th, but what's one spot, with no games played? I'd like to think that UConn can get to maybe #2 by the end of the season. I still see them losing 5-6 games (including, obviously, the one that ends their tournament run), but becoming a very strong team by season's end.

Just to check your bonafides as a picker - you obviously had ND and A&M in the championship game this time last year? Last year that would be #8 beating #12 preseason. This preseason that's Duke beating Penn State.

It'll be interesting to see to what extent the the AP's top 25 differs from the preseason coaches' poll which should be out this week. On the men's side, the 25 teams in the 2 polls are identical with minor differences in rankings after the top 7.

I expect the women's coaches will also put Baylor and ND as #s 1 and 2.

Wow! Nice comparison. Duke--a stretch, but not impossible, especially if Williams is the beast I think she is. PSU--nice team, improving, great shooter in Lucas. In the NC game? Not in 2012. Sorry.

My picks--Baylor and UConn.

I would also give a shout out to Wisconsin-GB and St. Bonaventure for outstanding seasons.

Im ok with the rankings. You have to have ND in the top because of where they finished last year and what they have returning. Now, thats not to say ND will end up ranked there. The season is going to be very interesting. There is much parity this season and many OCC games that will help.

Not so sure Tennessee should be that high nor do I think they will finish that high. I hope ND, Rutgers, Stanford and Baylor all stomp them.

GO UCONN!!!!

I got a "some" things right in the preseason.

With their losses of the large senior class, no clear replacements, a short roster and a search for Junior College replacements ongoing, I have no idea how UTENN can be ranked so high even without taking into account the coaching issue.
