What are we thinking Boneyarders? I’m guessing we stay around where we were last week. We had a great win followed by a “good loss” on paper (one possession loss to a top 25 team on their home court.) Hopefully the voters put more weight into the Marquette win and maybe we can crack the top 20 again?

Stay where we are

Well Indiana moved up with a loss at an unranked team and by beating Purdue. Now Marquette isn't Purdue (though that game early in the year was pretty close) but I'd take Creighton now over Maryland.

We will move ahead of Providence, TCU, St Mary's, but probably get jumped by Creighton. So I'll say 19. Outside chance we pass Iowa State, but not sure they'll fall enough even with 2 losses to unranked teams

19. We blasted a Top 10 Marquette team, and lost on the road to a ranked team by a big toe. I think that moves us up a couple spots
We jump TCU and PC.
Creighton jumps us.
Nets out as 20.

Dave Borges of the Register moved UConn from unranked to 25.

We don't usually add a team coming off a loss to our weekly AP Top 25 ballot, but we had to think long and hard about adding the UConn men's basketball team for the first time in three weeks.

The question: Is a 15-point home win over the No. 10 team in the country and a three-point road loss at one of the hottest teams in the country enough to re-introduce the Huskies on our ballot?

The answer: Yes. While road wins are what we value most, and the Huskies haven't really had a great one this season, it's hard to deny home wins over Marquette, Creighton and Oklahoma State and neutral-court wins over Iowa State and Alabama.

Example #1: Seth Davis moved us from unranked to #13 on his ballot this week
I thought it was a mistake when I saw that on the athletic. We're going to be all over the map. There's ballots out there that don't even have us ranked lol

Borges, Carino, and Davis didn't have UConn in their polls last week. This week they have them at 25, 15, and 13 respectively this week. Brown had UConn at 21 last week, now 19. They could really move up more than we think.

Probably somewhere 18-20. Last week was a 1-1 week, where the 1 win was an absolute thrashing of #10 and the 1 loss was a 3 point road loss to #23

Definitely moving up from that week. Take care of business against Seton Hall this weekend and we’ll probably be closer to 15 than 20 for our PC and SJU rematches

Seth Davis is funny. There’s gonna be no hate towards him from us this week, that’s for sure.

Moved up to #20 even after an L. Luckiest team ever NCAA College Basketball Rankings: AP Top 25 Basketball Poll | AP News
Forget "luckiest team ever." Where's any luck?

A team on a 9-game win streak beat UConn by 3 at home, and rose more than any other team. Writers know that there are 5 winning teams in the Big East, but need game results to determine their order.

Providence and TCU reasonably dropped enough after worse weeks than UConn.

Iowa State dropped the most, but not enough to go lower than UConn because they started so much higher, even though they lost to UConn. Respect for the Big 12.

San Diego State rose well like two others that took care of business and solidified their second-in-conference status (Indiana and Miami), but not enough to overtake UConn. Respect for the Big East.

I think you're taking your handle too seriously.

In the alternative, where did you think UConn would land, as determined by voters? (Sheep logic)
Better yet, where would you rank UConn this week? (Seth Davis style)

1 spot is a bit light after dominating a top 10 team. But we’ve built this bed
Marquette only dropped one spot after that beat down?
After consulting the Boneyard where they read about how Marquette wasn't dominated in the second half, and how the Creighton loss foretells that the team can't win, some writers considered Marquette's road loss simply a let down game in a tough conference and held back pending next weekend's 'show me' game to avenge the mortifying loss in Newark.

Prepare, focus, and execute next Saturday...the current most important must win game of the season.

This is one of those years where any voter for the AP that is taking their ranking seriously (and I know many are not) has to start from scratch every week. Why is Kansas State not budging after an ugly loss to Texas Tech? How many games does Iowa State have to lose to get knocked out of the Top 25?

Imagine anyone thinking a team that lost on the road at a highly ranked opponent because of the width of a toenail on a line was "lucky".

This is one of the unluckiest teams in college basketball. I think that's why the metrics keep saying the Huskies are way better than their record shows. There is no team that would feel remotely comfortable playing a neutral site game against UConn.
