AP Poll - Week 13 | The Boneyard

AP Poll - Week 13

UConn in at #24

Big East: Marquette (14), Xavier (16), Providence (17) , Creighton (29)

Could make an argument that Creighton got shafted and definitely deserves to be ranked… It’s also not unrealistic to say that five of our big east teams should fall somewhere in the top 15 or 20… That’s pretty damn impressive and definitely a lot better than most pundits were predicting for our conference this year

How many weeks have we lost in a row an are still ranked. Kinda hilarious. Looks like 5 straight weeks.
Maybe they’re keeping in mind our Kenpom ranking.

Fortunately, you can’t discount the work we put in early. As long as Alabama and Iowa State continue to do what they’ve done (knock on wood), it’ll buoy our computer numbers.

Total guess but I think even at, say, 24-9 or something, with our presumptive NET/KP, we’d be able to get on the 4-line and play in Albany. Of course, my dream is for us to win out and perhaps get back to a 2. But one of the above optimistic scenarios is more likely than the other.

I've been saying for a few weeks that nobody who actually watches games should rank us, but I guess voters saw an 0-1 week in a 3 point loss to a top 15 team (at the time)

Last chance. We have two freebies this week to stay in the top 25, then 2 tough weeks after that. Time to earn our spot

Agreed. The Big East is significantly better than most people expected at the start of the season.

Yes and no. The top of the league is good 1-5. 6-11 stink.

The voters. Lots of supporters deserting us this week.

Yikes...Uconn is 6th in BE standings. Seton Hall is 5th....so do you want to edit that to 5, 7-11 stink then? ;)

Nova at full strength, Johnnies & Hall don't stink...they aren't really good but not that bad either. The bottom 3 may stink but I'd rather beat them twice before committing to that.

well now, both corey and (this is the amazing one, since they've never been ranked before) jmoney are on higher ranked teams than coach freak out? even if it turns out to only be a moment in the sun in the fullness of time, it still happened, and my ten bucks a month for cusa tv turned out to be a great investment.

doubt this makes the cut. don't matter, still true.

I wonder if any team has ever lost 6 of 8 and remained in the top 25 the whole time.

it's a most interesting annual dynamic for the poll thing. if ur a no name, no account, never heard from team yet you start out perfect or almost perfect and end up getting some poll run, you know that lose a game, and the poll hammer will send u into space. Charleston? poof! Fau players know that any misstep, and the gossamer is gone.
now, that's playing with a bullseye on ur jersey.
yet, they continue to win, and it's now February 1st. big pressure, big fun. every game, life or death.

Not sure I agree with this take. Kenpom rankings in the Big East are:

#6
#8
#11
#22
#30
#54
#73
#75

#103
#135
#218

Gtown, Depaul, and Butler aren't excellent... Georgetown especially is really dragging down the conference.

The only conference that doesn't have 2+ teams outside of the top 100 is the B12.

Put it this way, the middle of the league is not as good as last year. We had six tournament teams in the field cleanly last year, and Xavier was one win away from a bid and blew it in the BET. We will likely get five teams in the field cleanly and nobody else will be on the radar.

I'm confused--this is entirely different than your original comment.

Seton Hall has 3 Quad 1 wins and a great SOS, so I think they're already on the radar....they have 9 games left to make their case.
