Sorry, @awfuldan, beating you to the punch this week after checking the rankings and being pleasantly surprised to see the good guys back in there! Certainly hanging on by a thread for now, but it's still nice to see a number back next to our name. Had an optimistic feeling after seeing us sneak back into the Reddit user poll at 25.

I figured we'd have a chance with how many teams in the 19-25 range lost, but I thought we might be a week away still with only beating St. John's. Happy to see it though

Same, I thought if we took care of business last week and this week it would be the 1/24 poll we’d have a shot at breaking into. Now let’s see if we can actually stay there

Not sure how that happened but I'm pleasantly surprised. We only have the St. John's win and close loss to Seton Hall of late. Guess other teams above us must have lost.

The only way to win the war of attrition is to not play.

Haha Auburn gets 11 more #1 votes that Gonzaga but still ends up 2.
One guy ranked them 9th.

I'd imagine that most of the voters look at KenPom (20th), Tovik T-Rank (30th) and NET rankings (15th).

Based on that, I'm excited that we're ranked, but I'm not surprised.

It's a big if, but if we go 6-0 against Butler, DePaul and Georgetown, then we would have ZERO losses outside of the top-50.

The last year that happened? The 2010-2011 season .

I know we're being careful as far as mojo is concerned, but, objectively speaking, getting those six wins is not really so big of an "if." Sure, we might lose one or more of them, but we shouldn't lose any of them.

That being said, Creighton (x2) and St. John's are remaining sub-50 teams.

Ah man, I totally blew that stat. Thanks for catching that. Too late to delete that post.

I don't think I can remember a time where the rankings fluctuated so much. Not just for us but the entire top 25. It is obvious that covid has had a hand in all of this. When covid dies down and all of the NIL stuff settles in, it will be interesting how the landscape of all college sports changes.

No problem, we're a team here!

It will be an amazing accomplishment if we can win all nine of those sub-50 games.

Have to think Auburn is the reason we got ranked this week. So much talk about them and UConn being the only team to beat them.
Very reminiscent of 2014 where our Florida win held a lot of weight for the rest of that season. And, for good reason since we were the only team to beat them besides Wisconsin.

We need to win out leading up to Villanova. We’ll be Top 15 and 16-4 that needs to happen. Can’t lose to teams we should beat.

This is good news, simply because it makes me happy to see. It’s also nice for recruiting, the credibility of the program, etc., to be consistently ranked. The Auburn win looks better and better each week. Winning at Marquette is certainly a solid win as well. Even the VCU win looks much better now than it felt at the time. If we take care of business the next few weeks, then we should be ranked for a while.

We're tied with Tennessee for 25th in the Coaches Poll. Seton Hall got a few votes, but nothing on the AP.

That's a surprising discrepancy, to have SHU 28th in one poll and lower than 40th in another. Apparently not a single one of 62 AP voters included Seton Hall in their ballot, but plenty, possibly most, of the 32 coaches did.

UConn just needs to win
That will take care of all the ranking BS
Rankings count in March
