UConn drops to #7 in the AP Poll. This is the lowest ranking since 2007. Shows a sustained level of excellence regarding this program. Something notable is that Georgia Teck skyrockets from being unranked to now #18. That was no easy team we played against the other night as we all saw.

GT did skyrocket but weren't they also ranked in the Top 25 Preseason poll?

UCONN's winning streak vs. unranked teams ended last week at Georgia Tech. That is unfortunate since Ga. Tech is ranked 18th just 5 days after beating the Huskies. I realize that signature win elevated them, but its not like UCONN lost to a bottom rung team.

GTech received votes in both polls last week, effectively placing them 30th on the AP Poll and 29th on the Coaches Poll.

UCLA was 31st on the AP Poll and 25th on the Coaches Poll

They were, tied for 17th in AP and 20th in Coaches.

Then Kierra Fletcher (I think their lead guard, second leading scorer and assister) had foot surgery and starting guard Loyal McQueen transferred after three games. So, they had to adjust and lost some games (to Auburn and Purdue) during that adjustment. But then they were unranked and beat ranked Georgia and then UConn in back-to-back games. So kind of an up and down start to the season.

Here are the RPI, NET, Massey rankings and AP Poll of the top 16 teams, FWIW. Note I have emboldened the SOS used by 2 of 4. The NET rankings don't show its SOS

And Georgia Tech made it to the Sweet 16 last season. Not making excuses for a better UCONN team, but this wasn't a monumental upset.

To me the poll means nothing because of our injuries. It will mean something to me when we get healthy. Healthy and up to speed from the injuries and I dont know if there is a team that can beat us.

This puts UConn as a low #2 seed. Maybe out of the Bridgeport regional.

lol.gif

Uconn could drop to a #10 seed and they wouldn't move them out of the Bridgeport Region

Not really going to concern myself too much with UConn’s rankings this season. My priorities in order of importance are as follows:

1. Get healthy
2. Come together as a team to play UConn WBB
3. Win the BE Conference Tournament
4. Earn a 4-seed or better
4. Bring on the Big Dance

What? 12th or 13th, you need to list out the schools you think are better even with the injuries as I just don't see it. In fact, Sunday will go a long way in determining where this team does rank in the top 10 as we play Louisville who beat Kentucky yesterday. I watched that game intently and think given 6 more practice days until that game, our game to game improvement plus hopefully Aubrey should garner us another win.

We have significant height and skill advantages down in the post with Liv, Dorka, Aaliyah and Amari (even with AE's current yips). We need to continue to leverage that, especially against the remaining top 25 teams on our schedule-Tennessee, Baylor and the aforementioned Louisville.

Keep the faith comrades, keep the faith!

Maryland moves way up in the polls soon after that game with South Carolina. They are certainly top 10 caliber and probably top 5 when healthy. Georgia Tech beat Georgia also right? They were underated and probably sweet 16 capable. Outside shot at final 4.

The AP poll does not determine seeding. Especially not in mid-December.
The NET rankings are presently insane with UNC and Nebraska above you with horrendous SOS. They will disappear when they get into their conference schedules. Of course, the NET is a guide. It is not determinative.

Just the fact this is the lowest ranking since 2007 says a lot about the program. That may be more amazing than consecutive or time since lost 2 games in a row.
Nah. Consecutive more impressive
