Anyone else think we're going to repeat?

What a loser mentality. I was confident we would win the National Championship before last season and considering we've won over 26% of the NC's over the past 15 years I KNOW I'm realistic. 50% isn't exactly going out on a limb when you win 1 in 4. So much defeatist mentality on this board, I have to wonder how much that carries over to your professional lives.
Remember last season when you decided the team had serious attitude and chemistry problems and it was going to be our downfall? You've managed to come up with far stupider thoughts in this thread.

God damn dude that is awesome! Might I make a small suggestion? Just, really, a brush stroke on the canvas of your masterpiece? Put a link to the dude's quote! Yes!!! DO IT!

I love to hype the possibilities of a repeat , then I think about smu; how they tooled on us . A team that didn't even make the ncaas

After 2011 and 2014, you have to state that UConn is fairly good odds to gut its way thru a 6 game tournament with a very good team. We don't have to be dominant. We raise our level to tournament tough and the chips fall. What happened ... and no other University has proven to me that they have our grit ... cannot be coincidence. We are bred for that March Madness stuff.

I just had to run 50.1 miles while using 2 smartphones and biting a raw potato just to get the taste of this thread out of my mouth.

Now all you need to do is fornicate with a 6'6 230lb man from Florida.

I've no idea how people manage to find from years ago. Even one.

I'm just glad the internet wasn't ready in 1993, when I wanted Calhoun sacked after the loss to Lindsay Hunter State. I just said that crazy stuff out loud, so no servers have a record of it. Other than this one now.

You obviously failed statistics.

I think the alpha is there in Boat and that's the biggest piece. We've got the guard play again. We were lucky to see the roles crystallize in 2011 the way they did and 2014 the roles were largely known in the off season.

I worry about all the new parts gelling.

Let's also not go all "Mau on Taliek" if Boat has some rough spots. I think he will be very good but will have to learn to stay cool and to attack the zone defenses we face. I am a little afraid that we underestimate just how smart a team leader that Bazz became and it makes sense that Boat will take some time to find the right balance between scoring and facilitating. I doubt that he can play the kind of defense he did in the tourney consistently while running the team as the primary ball handler. So much depends on how well he plays (and how consistently he plays). I'm really glad we have him in that spot and it will be fun to see how far Ryan Boatright can take this new group.

Agreed. Bazz gave us 6 pts a game on deep 3's after the offense had broken down and that's the difference between winning and losing. I don't think Boat will, nor does he have to. My comment was more about the team having clear roles and buying into them. No matter how talented a team you need that to make a NC run. If boat had jumped, the power struggle to take the reins of the team would have been far more detrimental than the loss of his talent and experience at the point. With Boat in the Backcourt and AB in the front court this team is going to be passionate. They will have really high High's and some low low's. If you go in to this season viewing it as a bridge year and getting to know our new guys I think it will be a lot more fun.

Playing the year after a national championship is like playing with the casino's chips. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy.

Only one school gets that luxury, and I'm glad it's mine.

I can never expect to win the national title, ever. I can only hope to be in the mix. I think we're in the mix

IF KO adheres to the concept that "Defense keeps you on the floor" then true HAVOC (no offense to VCU who will have an outstanding team this year but has trouble defending in the half court at times) may very well live in Storrs, CT. in 2014-15. UConn has proven commodities on the defensive end with a ceiling that still hasn't been met.

Give me:

Boatright (potentially the best defensive guard in the country)
Purvis (lock down when dialed in)
Samuel (lock down)
Nolan/Facey (Facey a wildcard & Nolan per his NCAA Tourney performance on D)
Brimah (game changer)

Anything related to Hamilton on the defensive end is all speculative but I am expecting HUGE things from him by mid season on both ends of the court. I understand those skeptics who contend Brimah needs another year to add strength to be one of the most dominant forces in college hoops. My guess is we are all going to be pleasantly surprised by some gains he has made in the strength department despite his limitations this summer.

Coach Ollie and the team may have some growing pains at times early. Trying to incorporate Omar, Facey, Cassell Jr. into the mix. UConn will have the potential to dominate other top back courts on the defensive end. IF UConn makes defense their calling card this team could find themselves contending for another Final4. It wouldn't surprise me.

***Havoc in this sense will not be analogous to VCU's traditional full court press. It will represent the ability to reach our "Stop threshold" on a regular basis thus creating Havoc.

No team can say they will win it all--way too many variables. Do we have the ingredients to win it all? YES. And I think we should stick with the multiple PG system for many years to come.

Not trying to be a homer, but I'm thinking we may never lose again, now that Coach Ollie is LOCKED IN. Every year's team will be more talented than the prior year's team and will also have MORE HEART. Coach Ollie will never leave because he LOVES UCONN and NO JOB IN THE WORLD COULD BE BETTER.

I'm getting a "UCONN HUSKIES NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2014-2072" tattoo on my lower leg. Both lower legs. WHO'S WITH ME???????????? (Besides huskiesnyc, I mean.)
and UConnDan97, of course.

A valuable lesson learned by Stephen A. Smith in last season:

"Never ever ever bet against great guard play in Tourney time". I dislike him but love this quote.

I would venture to say, yes! we are going to win the NC title again!

You are all delusional if you honestly think we are going to win the National Championship again this year.

Could it happen? Yes, It could. But the amount of people here saying they're certain we're going to win is just insane. We haven't even seen everyone play together yet. It's way too early to be talking about it. I'd like to see a Conference Championship with an Elite Eight Run. I think that'd be a really solid year after coming off a National Championship

What? You must not have read a single post in the thread besides the OP. Every single response was basically some form of your second paragraph.

There are five people in the thread who have said they think we're going to win the title, three of whom who appear to be dead set in that thinking. I just went through and counted.

Either I have 4 of those guys on my ignore list (possible) or you are just making stuff up.

Edit. I don't want to be a d___ to a new poster. I think you may be misunderstanding some of the overflowing sarcasm on this board.

For the record, I think we're going to win the title every year (even 2012-13), but I am a little biased.

Didn't Stephen pick UK, with Skip picking UConn?

Before last season started, I told my Duke loving brother-in-law that UCONN would win back to back championships. I'll stick with that as everyone underestimates what the team learned from Kemba in 2011. The blueprint has more to do with togetherness, motivation, and realizing the effort it takes to win. Many teams have the talent, but notice that during tough times UCONN players never started arguing with each other like other teams. My only worry is that based on recruiting, and learning from the past, we could three-peat. If that happens and Oklahoma City does not win a championship, the Thunder will offer Coach so much that he would be crazy not to go to the NBA.
