Lends credence to the theory that the coach has already been selected and his team is in the FCS playoff.
I sure he has a list. It is one thing to have a list and quite another to reach agreement. Guys get other offers. They want more than you can offer. There are also the “woodwork” candidates. Guys you probably didn’t expect who come out of the woodwork when the job is open. I’m going to bet that Jim Mora wasn’t on Benedict’s list when he first thought about firing Edsall. Or if he was he was at the lower end as an interesting possibility but probably not real.Yeah I assume DB knew Mora applied for Washington State job. So DB should have had a list together since the end of the 2024 season.

Lied to or just BS'd by the Oligarch. Not just speculation? Besides, if it was Moorehead or Sammis, would we not have heard already? That would leave Reno ... Or someone not on his list.Unless we are deliberately being lied to somewhere else then this is not the case.
I was asking if you were being sarcastic.

There are only 136 FBS schools and only a few openings every year. While i think getting a guy who has a reputation is important to keep up the momentum it is more important to get someone who will succeed. If you want to be a college head coach and you think UConn is a step up you’ll take the job. Because you might well not get another chance. The assumption, here at least, was DB was aware other schools were or would be coming after JM. Even if that weren't true it's been said before that any AD worth his salt always keeps a "potential candidate list" for the most critical coaching positions. Plus, DB has lots of contacts and we now seem to have influential friends (Nick Saban) who would be potential contacts for advice on an important hiring like a football coach.
That said, this is taking too long when you see how quickly some schools fill openings and makes me wonder if JM really left UConn in a better situation than he found it.
There could well be lingering doubts about, again, whether UConn has what it takes to keep its football program viable and continue to grow its strength and sustainability. Someone equal to JM in status may not want to risk leaving a solid position and someone with less experience who's making a name for himself may have doubts about taking a job that's been so risky for so long.
Let's hope DB can find that aggressive, competent, coach with experience running a program who has the confidence to take the job.
I like the first sentence of his post. I’d be surprised if the list was accurate. If that was what he was looking at, unless Reno is his #1 and is stonewalling into Yale is out of the playoffs, either Sammis or Morehead would accept before asking what their compensation is.Hey! At least the “American Obligarch” is trying to feed us some info! The Horde has given me nothing and I don’t even get a cryptic “You should subscribe to Storrs Central”. I need news damn it!
Based on his 3 names I sincerely hope the Obligarch is wrong.
Yes, I was being sarcastic. Sorry it didn’t come through clearly.I was asking if you were being sarcastic.

If Penn State fired Franklin during a one month meltdown over a ten year career to bring in Mullen, the AD and the horse he rode in on will be gone by next fall.
I mostly agree with your sentiment, though somehow this year will have at least 24 head coaching changes in FBS (~18%) and that is not counting any additional HC poaching from the 9 jobs currently open or any possible retirements like Kansas St. Will be interesting to see if this level of turnover becomes more of the norm with the higher expectations and stakes that come along with the increase in funding both from schools and donors. There are only 136 FBS schools and only a few openings every year.
