Lyndon B. Johnson?
Yes, the Baines version, lol
It was a joke, it’s clearly not the time to joke around, my bad
Lyndon B. Johnson?
I can't imagine this is possible but if it is sign me up immediatelyAlso, here's another one - Dan Mullen from UNLV.
He's an east coast guy and UNLV has money issues, they've been open that they can't afford his full 5 year $17.5M deal beyond next year. Who knows?
Yeah I agree. Recruiting was not his passion at Florida. But. Those teams were actually decent. I am not sure if he has figured out the whole NIL thing yet at UNLV. They are great on offense….and awful on defense. Sound familiar?Still have to be able to smooze players. Dan hated that part of the job and did not recruit well while at Florida. Just cannot cut the biggest checks.
Beat me to it. Dead to rights. He's dead to me.
Was he the coach that made the QB quit for unfulfilled promises?Yeah I agree. Recruiting was not his passion at Florida. But. Those teams were actually decent. I am not sure if he has figured out the whole NIL thing yet at UNLV. They are great on offense….and awful on defense. Sound familiar?
I don’t think he would be the worst choice if DB was confident he figured the NIL stuff out
The modern game has past Jon Gruden by.In think Jon Gruden would be an interesting hire and would do well here
I watched him break down quarterbacks, and he didn't lose anything. I think he likes what he is doing and would only come back for the NFL, not college, unless it was something really specialThe modern game has passed Jon Gruden by.
If he enjoyed recruiting he'd be very good here. He's probably untouchable as far as hires go, but we don't need the best scheme. We need a game manager that brings in ballers. The modern game has past Jon Gruden by.
no. that was the prior coachWas he the coach that made the QB quit for unfulfilled promises?
As an assistant coach…sureAnother poster said Lyndon Johnson is in the mix
I think if Sammis was the guy, he would have been named already. Why wait? Guessing that Dave Benedict is chasing someone pretty specific. I’d hope to see the announcement sooner rather than later but it isn’t my decisionWe lived this already. Neither will be around in due time. Sammis will bolt when he doesn’t get the nod as HC and Brock isn’t hanging around to get let go by the next guy. Had a good thing going but Mora flipped the match and burned it down and we will have deal with the smoldering mess and re- re-re-re- build.. it gets tiring.
That's my sense as well. It's radio silence while he closes the deal. That's the right way to do it, though it's frustrating for us being on the outside and not being able to see any material signs of progress. We do need to get someone in sooner rather than later to stop the hemorrhaging and start bringing in new talent.I think if Sammis was the guy, he would have been named already. Why wait? That’s been our problem. But didn't we understand at the beginning of this season the defense was going to struggle due to the turnover after last season? Still, they played well enough to win 9 and take the 3 losses to overtime. Granted the offense made the season for us but still being understaffed I thought they did more than what everyone expected at the beginning.
I'm just looking at it from a recruiting standpoint. Potential recruits and portal transfers will see some continuity where if you bring in a new HC and he's not a brand name they are going to keep looking. A new HC has to start from scratch once again and how many times do we have to go through that? Every 3-4 years we have to deal with a new HC making grandiose statements to appease the base just so we can watch him sink or swim and 3 years later he's either canned or off to his "dream job". That's getting real old and you wonder why the fan base isn't growing.
Especially with Part 1 of Nationaling Signing Day being tomorrow (correct?)That's my sense as well. It's radio silence while he closes the deal. Recruiting is way different now. It's more like hiring temp workers.
There are always more kids in the portal than there are spaces available. We find someone. We need some genius talent evaluators. There’s a lot leaving. Continuity of a potentially bare cupboard
When you fire someone, you already know who their replacement is. We are in a different situation then that.Still no posting. No new rumors. No nothing. It's frustrating when MSU and Kentucky can fire and announce a hire in 2 days.
It is a little different when the coach quits rather than getting fired. You don't fire someone, ideally, until the replacement is already lined up. And most states don't make you post senior executive level positions for five days. That is just a ridiculous requirement.Still no posting. No new rumors. No nothing. It's frustrating when MSU and Kentucky can fire and announce a hire in 2 days.
This has held true in the past. I can’t recall: was it the case with Mora’s hire too?The moment the job listing hits distribution, we will know they have got their guy. Then it will be five days to the announcement.
HCRE2.0 was fired early mid season and there was a long time before the portal or whatever preceded it opened up. As I recall they were just trying to get through the season, hiring a consultant to help with that. And like you, I cannot recall the timing. Thinking this one should be much quicker. The need is urgent. And it is a more attractive opening now. This has held true in the past. I can’t recall: was it the case with Mora’s hire too?
Mentioning Consultant, i am suprised nobody has brought that offensive guru consultant yet.
