Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

He had an email informing him to take the rest of the season off after announcing this would be it for him and discussing it with nobody. It’s amazing how you are wrong about pretty much everything.
Dude. Come on. He was fired. RE said in Sunday he’s retiring at the end of the season. THE NEXT DAY DB say “Nah.” He was fired.

Idc about the semantics of them trying to avoid a buyout or whatever by not terminating his employment until a later date. Dude was F-I-R-E-D fired.

The second quote is entirely defensible. You don't want to join a power conference if it's going to hemorrhage you money. Look at Rutgirls, they have how much in debt due to not getting full payouts for how many years?
The real problem at Rutgers is that they weren't prepared to upgrade to the Big 10 and they had to invest. They had to invest in facilities, personnel, coaching salaries,... And, they have 25 varsity sports which is too many given their financial circumstances. UConn has upgraded facilities over time and most of their sports are P4 ready with the exception of football. Coaching salaries, with the exception of football, are P4 comparable.

I am impatient about selection of the next coach. USF already hired somebody and Golesh left after Mora I believe.

When we had to replace P and HCRE2, they were both fired early in the season and we had plenty of time to plan ahead for this time of year. After HCRE2, he had Mora in place before we got to the end of the season and it helped keep the player pool that turned it around the following season. When you fire your coach at the end of the season (with us it only happened with HCVV), the AD at least has an idea that he may need to make a change at the end of the season, and while he can’t be openly calling candidates like when the coach is fired early you can at least plan for your next steps. When your coach quits at the end of the season, like now (or after HCRE1), the AD is left in an impossible predicament. Every day you delay sets back player recruiting and retention for the fall, and an materially hurt the upcoming season, but the cost of that is minor compared to rushing and getting the wrong person. but rushing and hiring the wrong coach as we have seen can set the program back much further than a subpar year.

He has to get it right. I’m as impatient as the next guy, and I wish he’d get it right NOW, but I understand that it’s more important that he get it right and we have to be patient.

I agree with most of what you wrote except I think Mora had been looking around and I would think DB knew that. Every AD has to have a list of potential coaches at all times. I think three things are complicating the hire: 1) This hire is very important to UConn for future conference realignment. 2) UConn is a unique job and it has to be approached as such. For example, the next coach has to embrace the portal. 3) DB is probably lobbying for increased resources for the next coach.

Yeah I assume DB knew Mora applied for Washington State job. So DB should have had a list together since the end of the 2024 season.

Absolutely right. You have to get the hire right and fans have to realize the incoming coach will be at a disadvantage in his first season with personnel. Of course, fans are never patient, but nonetheless........

DB would know Moras situation, agreed, and as mentioned previously, he may already have his man and is respecting said Coaches wishes to finish his season(with a run to the National Championship??😁)

Hey! At least the “American Obligarch” is trying to feed us some info! The Horde has given me nothing and I don’t even get a cryptic “You should subscribe to Storrs Central”. I need news damn it!

Based on his 3 names I sincerely hope the Obligarch is wrong.
But it's on the internet so there must be something to it.
