Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

Still no posting. No new rumors. No nothing. It's frustrating when MSU and Kentucky can fire and announce a hire in 2 days.
It is a little different when the coach quits rather than getting fired. You don't fire someone, ideally, until the replacement is already lined up. And most states don't make you post senior executive level positions for five days. That is just a ridiculous requirement.

The moment the job listing hits distribution, we will know they have got their guy. Then it will be five days to the announcement.
This has held true in the past. I can’t recall: was it the case with Mora’s hire too?

HCRE2.0 was fired early mid season and there was a long time before the portal or whatever preceded it opened up. As I recall they were just trying to get through the season, hiring a consultant to help with that. And like you, I cannot recall the timing. Thinking this one should be much quicker. The need is urgent. And it is a more attractive opening now.

They’re mandated to post the position for a certain number of days. Typically they do it after the choice is made to allow the requirements to be customized in such a way that only the chosen candidate can be hired.

Mentioning Consultant, i am suprised nobody has brought that offensive guru consultant yet. Or maybe I missed it

I'm hearing Cahill to JMU could get done pretty soon, so there's another name off the board.

While I'd personally look into a guy like one of the Kellys (Chip or Brian) or other big names just as a stop game to hopefully be bowl eligible the next couple years and force our way into a conference, I don't think UConn is looking that way. I think we'll see some pretty crazy lists with names like Brian Kelly but also some other former NFL/College guys (Malzhan?) but the source will be their camps, not UConn. I like the concept of Matt Patricia but I also fear a second Chris Ash and I think Ohio State would probably pay to keep him at DC more than we'd pay for HC with the success they are having.

I have a feeling other than Cahill, none of the guys they were highly interested in are going to move around in the short term and we might be one of the last teams to fill the occupancy and it's going to be a guy with head coach experience but maybe even from FCS rank. I don't know what we can do to pouch a good G5 coach from a "less-prestigious" east coast school. I just have faith Benedict will get someone.

Unrelated side note: Penn State looks to be the ultimate loser in this. I don't know why they didn't take Chesney, especially at a school where there is a bit more of a leash than other really big time top 15 programs due to Big 10 being fairly weak on the bottom half and Penn State getting a pretty easy conference/OOC schedule the next few years. If they don't get the BYU guy they are screwed.

Why don't we just get off the dime and hire 'The Boneyard?' God knows that 'The Boneyard' knows EVERYTHING and can do a better job than any one person that Dave might hire.
Hahaha, well some of us know everything, but I don't know enough to even be dangerous. So count me out.

He wasn’t fired. He quit. And we were abysmal. Nobody good was lining up to take Dave’s calls.

This time it is apparently much different. They have many more options to screen and consider.

I will say it again even though I got mocked with reaction emojis the first time. The HC's of NoDak St, Montana St, and Montana should be looked at. I thought Chesney should have been taken last time by UConn and now he is a level above us and unreachable. Those three FCS coaches should at least get interviews, at least one or two.

No no no. He said that was his last season and he would finish it out. Then he had a tumultuous meeting with AD David Benedict and was told to leave immediately.

He had an email informing him to take the rest of the season off after announcing this would be it for him and discussing it with nobody. It’s amazing how you are wrong about pretty much everything.

Oregon State couldn’t even get the Montana State coach.

These guys would be a fish out of water in the northeast.

I heard a rumor that Butch Jones is the "former SEC head coach" interested in the job... I could 100% get behind that.

Also, here's another one - Dan Mullen from UNLV.

He's an east coast guy and UNLV has money issues, they've been open that they can't afford his full 5 year $17.5M deal beyond next year. Who knows?
For anyone that listens to the TNT College Football Podcast's UConn Football Chat, in their podcast today they mentioned conversations have been had with Mullen around the 18 minute mark.

Where? Just did a couple brief searches and didn't find anything.

I want Cahill so this would suck if true
For one, Solid Verbal podcast but I've heard a lot of JMU people talk about this mid season expecting Chesney to go to Penn State or something.

Yup, and that was after his tumultuous meeting. By any measure, that is called getting fired. He only gave his end of season notice to avoid getting fired anyway. My point stands.

You mean the 2-10 Oregon State that plays in the PAC-12 leftovers conference? That Oregon State? THEY couldn't get the Montana State coach?

Those guys coach in the north. That is all that is required. Who knows, might get lucky and one of them has a spouse from the east.

I don’t think that is true actually. They’ve done it for assistants as a proforma thing. But I don’t even think they have done that. I’m not even sure it is 5 days.
