Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

I think Uconn doesn't want to pay a high buyout. Looking to just pay salary, get 7 or 8 wins in the G5 and let Dan and Gino win championships and get Yormark to sway some votes to get us in Big 12. I really thinks that the plan.

Good luck getting 8 wins cheap in this market.

This is Suzie Herbst/Warde destructive level thinking. Good god I hope you are wrong.

This is and should absolute be the plan. Football just has to be "good enough" not elite. Once we get in a power conference, you can up your spend on a coaching staff

Basketball people are paranoid about football being popular.

At no other school in the United States do people not want to have a great football team. Never seen anything like it.

The big time players on PSU will get more money than we can pay them, either there or at another P-4 school. He very well might bring us some guys who haven’t gotten major playing time yet. Guys like — I don’t know — Roberson and Mills?

Payment to players has changed everything. Nothing comes free with a coach any more.
No kidding and definitely not from pre-season number two to connecticut

Winners win, competitors compete. All the other stuff is just details. Refuse to lose and all those details fall into place.
He does not have a name like Mora had - ex NFL coach to attract players in the portal with NFL aspirations.

Mora is 64 and BY has no problem with him
Mora was 59 when hired at UConn with 10 years of prior head coaching experience at UCLA and the NFL. Cignetti had 11 years of head coaching experience before he was hired at Indiana and had won big at each stop.

UConn can not take the risk of hiring a 57 year old career assistant coach with no head coaching or coordinator experience. The conference realignment stakes are too high.

Apparently the “scoop” is literally just people they are talking about on their internal message board. You can safely disregard anything from that place.

I didn’t even know it existed. Will return to not knowing.

Why would basketball people be paranoid about football being popular?

I don’t think that is true actually. They’ve done it for assistants as a proforma thing. But I don’t even think they have done that. I’m not even sure it is 5 days.

It's not that people are scared, its just next to impossible to do here.
It so patently false and the RE1 era proves the opposite. I guess if you repeat the same BS long enough people start believing it. Why basketball heads are so adverse to football is just beyond comprehension. I want basketball, football, baseball, hockey, soccer and every other team to dominate.

I want them to dominate just as much as the next guy. But where will the money come to be elite? You? Cuz that does not exist today. It’s just a simple fact.

It’s Cahill. He’s at his first HC job, wants to finish the job he started, feels strongly about not leaving the kids high and dry. DB probably praying for an early exit from FCS playoffs, but is sure Cahill is the man for the job. Lew and Jeff had RE1.0 picked before Skip was done saying his goodbyes(Lew was pissed, he really liked Skip, who was doing a solid job). Feels the same to me.

The basketball fans are paranoid about going anywhere but the Big East no matter how it effects the football program. So I think his point was they would see the football program die before they would leave the Big East again. Even though the Big East isn't what it used to be. They would wine about team travel(in the Big 12) even though they have to travel to Nebraska and Wisconsin now. And that will make any football coach either pass on UConn or always have their antenna searching for a new gig.

It might be an exaggeration to say they're "paranoid" about football being popular, but there definitely is anti-football sentiment from some basketball people at UConn.
its more, paranoid that football might have some effect on BB dominance.

Like resources flowing more to FB might take away $’s from BB. Or moving to ACC or Big 12 ‘to chase football money’

Outside of 10 programs, awfully difficult to be elite in FB. But, just to be a Top 40 program takes a sizable Investment that up until now UConn hasn’t been willing to make. Look at the RE2.0 as perfect example.

Unfortunately RE 1 has absolutely no applicability in an NIL world. What worked even 5 years ago is not applicable.
Things really changed here only when Mora was blunt about NIL and we somehow clearly stepped that up. The earlier commenter was spot on when he mentioned that the days of hiring a new coach from a good school automatically meant a few good players would come with him are over. They will come if they like the coach AND there is NIL to be had.
