Delighted that she was in Storrs for round one.
Frankly she seems to be just what we need to help deal with the
occasionally elite bigs we will be encountering next year.
Somewhere I read that when Wisconsin played UCLA early in the year she played very
respectably against Betts...worth a Geno look just based on that.

Is there a specific date when portal kids can sign? I assume a verbal can come anytime?
I read that she is from Brooklyn...reasonably close for parents to see her play for an elite
team going for Ring 12...or 13.

I noticed she has not played in the NCAA tournament yet after three very good years as an individual player. That must be very frustrating to a top player and a good reason she will look for a program that expects a long run in the tournament, like us.

Good sign she was there round 1. She saw that she could join a team that put BTA to every opponent but 1.

She'd be a good primary or backup (depending on development) for Jana or Ice. Rim protector that we really need.

She played this night.

What a refreshing idea. Take the ball at and up into the defender possibly drawing fouls instead of either turtling with the ball down or lunging sideways to avoid them while flipping the ball aimlessly. Sign her up.

Can anyone look back in history to see if there was any mutual interest when she was in high school?

Goes to show a player doesn’t have to be a giant to be an effective post player. All of the posters demanding Geno sign up a 6-6 girl (ironically, he has) would find they love Serah. Heck, Aaliyah is incredibly effective at 6-3

Agree. After what Marisa Moseley has been able to do with Williams' development, maybe she'd be willing to do Auriemma a favor and spend some time with El Alfy. Just call it "consulting work" or something. ;)

Hate to disagree but with her defense alone she'd start for the year tht she's at Uconn, her offense definitely puts her in a starters role, kinda like wht KC did whn she came, seems a lot of posters were happy with the choice Geno made in tht situation.......No?

Williams would definitely be a starter !! No doubt about it !!

She played this night.

In all this highlights I only saw Serah Williams match up against
Lauren Betts TWICE! The primary UCLA defender on Serah seemed
to be Angela Dugalic, # 32. Then again, Dugalic is a 6'4" graduate
Forward who comes to UCLA as a transfer from OREGON! Betts however
is the offensive thread averaging 20.0 ppg playing 25 minutes per game. Angela Dugalic plays an average of 23 minutes per game, averaging 7.7 ppg. I did
just check Serah's stats: 32 minutes per game 19.2 ppg, 9.8 rebound per game
and 2.3 blocks per game. UCLA sometimes have both BIGS on the floor,
sometimes one or the other. Interesting challenge for GENO and the HUSKIES!!

1 out of every 4 women D1 basketball players are currently in the portal. As much as I love shopping talent it is a slippery slope and one that you can't get off once you are on it. KC is a talented player and a great all around person AND a graduate transfer not a portal player. In my view she brings a lot to UConn but I don't think UConn would be in a different place right now if she wasn't part of the team.

Down here in LSU country the locals are crying about losing players to the portal but Kim Mulkey has shown zero loyalty to any of her players so she is starting to get what she has been sowing. I would hate to see something like that happen at UConn where they haven't really shopped a lot yet still end up with the best players. Stay the course Geno, you are doing it right.

This thread is about Serah. There is a discussion on the portal on the General wbb board

Starting a new thread on this young woman that’s considering transferring from Wisconsin to UConn. If this thread drifts off the topic of Serah, it will be locked.
I hope will get another big , strong and tall post player . Serah could fill in that position alternating with Jana and Ice. We need someone to counter/ guard on Betts and some South Carolina’s big post players .

No insight on that. Not much was said about her recruitment while she was at Niagara Prep, but she only played there for 2 seasons from what I recall.

Her coach at Niagara Prep does know Richard Nurse however. He works with the Kia Nurse program during the summer as one of their coaches. If she needs a reference, it shouldn't be too hard with Kia currently back in Toronto doing work for TSN. ;)
