Talked with Tom Jackson about walking on to the football team in 1991 but decided against it for a number of reasons but most specifically because I really wasn't good enough. I did play WR for 2 years on one of the top JC teams in the country but when I got to UCONN I focused my energy on drinking, getting laid and leading our intramural basketball team(McMahon 4 North) to the final four in consecutive years in the Husky division. Ok, i didn't really lead them, I was pretty mediocre at hoops too.

I did end up on the field for a number of UCONN football teams as my work/study job was with the athletic department and my job was cleaning the pool decks in the Wolff-Zackin natatorium 1 day a week and carrying coach Jackson's head set when he wasn't wearing it during games. Back in those days they were connected to long wires which he tripped over at least twice a game leading him to call me a moron and hurl a number of cuss words at me.

Wait, so you still have eligibility then? Was it you who Diaco was referring to as his "Yugo in the garage" that he can't drive yet?

Well i played basketball for 3 years at a local university after which i played proffesionally. while in college i played center and was a rebound and block machine who nearly won national player of the year in my junior season and if it wasnt for some back issues id have won it. i wore number 50 and i was a pretty good student athlete;)

Emeka knows how to spell "professionally." :)

Junior year work study as a lab tech in the Student Infirmary. Finger stuck one of the football players - lineman - who proceeded to pass out. Knew we didn't have much of a team that year.

If so speak up. Been curious if anyone here posts from the mind of a former athlete.
Played one fall season of club rugby. Came back for the spring season but I got pummeled by a football player in the first practice. I limped back to my dorm and never looked back.

I was a standout on the Lack of Physical Coordination team until I broke my leg trying to stand up

Baseball, not at UConn but played UConn and beat them in a double header (one game was a no hitter). I was 0-6. Tom Penders and Bill Holowatty from the basketball team were on that team.

4 yrs hockey at that bantam school. Went to the ECAC D3 finals three times and lost all three. Also we got beat by UConn the 2 or 3 years that we played them - pretty badly.

Former Uconn football coach Paul Pasqualoni recruited me to play for him in college. When I got there he was gone to Syracuse to coach Mcnabb. Close enough .

It was a while ago- but I used to stand on a chair to do a 6 foot bong hit. Always thought I had Olympic potential.

What happened? Not enough training?

2 year intramural all star in softball and possibly the only student to get tossed out of an intramural basketball game. I used to get a little too fired up for what should be a mostly non-contact sport.
Two years baseball, two years basketball, two years golf.
Hartford branch.
And trust me, you are not the only one to get tossed. Those intramural games were the best.

I used to tell girls that I was a baseball player to get laid... does that count?
Had some success with this in college. Everywhere I visited friends, I was on the football team. On my home turf, rugby or baseball, sports the school didn't offer... "60% of the time, it works every time."

Baseball pitcher/OF Stamford branch.
Hockey statistician & 3rd string goalie Stamford Branch.
Winning goalie, 6-man intramural soccer championship, Storrs.
Champion, Crandall C 2nd Annual Winner-Take-All Poker Tournament.

@CAHUSKY Shout out to 4th floor of McMahon! I think I was like room 408 or something back in the day but my memory is fuzzy....

I dated a Uconn women's track team member in the 90's and slept with a chic
From the Stamford campus . Plus I once held Scott Burell to 10 pts at a church cookout in 1989. That's equals out to an associates degree at Uconn and a practice squad player for Calhoun.

Practice player for the women's bball team my senior year in 07/08... If that even counts, haha.

That's pretty cool. Probably the closest to big-time UConn athletics that any of us have gotten.

427 baby! I can see it in your avatar picture. I last lived there in 1992 but dropped in to see the current residents the last time I was on campus for the UCONN v Syracuse game in 2007. They thought we were old.
