Another J Ross thread?...Yep

Btw so there’s no confusion with goofies trying to make it out to seem like I’m trying to say Ross will be Kemba or something.

My official position going to next year if he’s a starter is he’ll fall in line with Andre and Castle as far as role, importance, and impact.

Calling him a 7th man at best for his career on the likes of Joey C and Kromah just sounds like a backhanded compliment from people who have to eat crow for not thinking he was even capable of being as good as he is now. And he’s scratching the surface still.

I’m ready for him to take all the confidence he’s playing with now into an offseason knowing he’s going to be a trusted Hurley player and one of the main guys for the team. If things shake out roster wise for him to be a starter.
Good points. This is not a 7th man when he comes back next year. He's a day 1 starter. And a good case we'd benefit if he starts now.

Given his current playing time with Stewart out, I'd like to see Danny bring back one of those Andre Jackson lob plays for JRoss. I feel like those lobs to a wing have disappeared in the last two years but Ross is completely capable off bringing it back.
I’m not confident in anyone on this team in actually throwing the lob to him.

Agree 100%. It's too bad the team is absolutely allergic to throwing good lob passes this year.

I think the guard-to-guard (+ Ross) lobs have actually been pretty good. The ones to Reed and Reibe are the head-scratchers. Most, if not all, of the g2g lobs happen on fastbreaks. I can’t recall them trying that in the half court, aside from the ones to Reed and Reibe.

Ross has gotten better as the season went on and is playing the best basketball of his career. That is GREAT to see, especially since his build (3&D wing) is a desperately needed part of this roster

Perhaps the best part is consistency and confidence. Earlier in the season he’d have a good game and then show old habits of timidness or lack of confidence. So you didn’t know what to expect from a game to game basis. That’s gone now. He’s been consistent and reliable for about a month now. Best month to start gaining momentum

Keep it rolling Jayden. We need you this month!

Way to try and give him a compliment while continuing to limit what he can do lol

I gave him a compliment and I’m honest about his abilities. Whatever slight you need in your mind, even in an overly complimentary post, go for it bro. He’s not a high level option he’s an excellent role player.

We’re talking about this year, no? He’s a Kromah, Giffey (starter but role player) type.

Stop being so argumentative and pretending you’re making some grand point.

Love what ive been seeing from Jaylin. I'll admit i was a hater to start the season but he has changed my opinion.

Excited to see if he takes another jump next year as a starter.
I hope he remains a bench player next year because that means we have someone even better (maybe from the portal?) ahead of him. But he certainly could continue to improve and earn starters minutes next year. But Hurley will probably give him his opportunity as a loyal 4 year player.

I don't really recall many of them, I remember Ross throwing one to Mullins in I believe the 2nd Creighton game that was a clear runway and Mullins even botched that one

I'll admit to not thinking he was a UConn caliber player when he got to UConn, but he's proved me wrong. We badly needed an energy guy.

I’d be reasonably surprised if they bring in a starting caliber player with Ross and Landrew lined up for the 3 next year. My guess is it’s a competition between the two of them.

It's wild for him to take umbrage with your post. Niels Giffey shot over 48% from three his senior season, won a national championship and was one of our best glue guys ever in that season. He guarded 1 through 5 on the court and played Julius Randle to a standstill in the national championship game.

Most likely, we need to bring in an AK replacement at the 4 and he needs to be an athlete. A big athletic 5 to have another two headed monster at center and a backup point guard. Another guard/shot maker who can play off the bounce too, Stefan Vaaks I hope.

Either way, portal or Landrew, if Ross is a bench player that's a good sign. My concern is Ross could be a quality starter with some improvement, but we need star talent to compete for championships. A starting lineup of Silas, Ball, Ross, Stewart, Reibe with Landrew and County coming off the bench is not enough IMO. We need another starter caliber portal player along with a backup point guard and backup center (unless Elezaj is an option). That starter would take either Ross or Stewart's starting spot depending on position.

Hurley seems hesitant to poach players from other BE teams. Vaaks is a talented offensive player. He would definitely squeeze some minutes from Ross at the 3.

Their coach is gone and their players are fair game, it would be insane not to go after them because they happened to play for Providence this past season.

You love that he’s been on the bench injured?😉

I think it depends on if they're replacing the starting 4 for next season, or the starting 3 and 4. If Mullins is back then I agree I don't see another starting caliber wing being brought in

My opinion is that we'll see one of if not the biggest jumps from junior year to senior year in J.Ross next season.
100% I think a mistake we all commonly make is copy and pasting what a player is now onto their future slot. 75% of the BY did exactly that with Ross this summer
