Burrell was the best UConn athelete of the 90s. Nobody was close. At all.
Loved Scott but hard to keep Ray out of that discussion.

Is this just a reference to the Zags tweet? How nice of Cliff to chat with Andre about teaming up together at UConn.

Awesome weakside help defender. One on one relied more on long arms and vertical (shot blocking). Not so much lateral movement. Something Burrell possessed, like Jackson. Apparently not too many people here remember Burrell.
The dunk against PC at around the 2:00-2:05 mark is criminal.
How on earth is it ridiculous? I saw Zion play when he was 16 and knew he was a better athlete than anyone who ever played here. I didn't need to see him play against UNH to know that.Ridiculous to debate about whether an 18 year old high schooler is a better athlete than guys we've had here on top 10 and final four teams, playing against other elite athletes.
Let's see the kid take on UNH or Boston U before saying he's a better athlete than Rudy Gay.

You're not making any sense. It's based off of watching him play just as Jackson being a better athlete than Sticks is based off of watching him play.Just because your opinion would become true (Zion/UConn) doesn't mean it based on anything but hype at the time.

Seriously does it devolve this quickly on other forums? When an Andre Jackson Announcement Date thread quickly becomes a "debate" about past UConn athletes.
Boneyardin', baby!!
No point in being a UConn fan if we can't spike the football when we steal a kid out of their backyardY'all posting bad orange pictures and such need to respect the basketball gods. We've been burned way too many times to be doing a victory dance.
Stay humble until the LOI comes in. Even a verbal isn't done. S4!t happens.
It's best to expect the worst and hope for the best until any of this is done deal.
Posting some of the crap in this thread will come back to haunt you. Just don't do it.

Context matters and effects perception.
I really doubt your eye test was able to discern a basketball players athletic ability based off of YouTube videos against other high school kids and then project that to a comparison against guys at UConn who haven't even been in the program for a decade plus.
Welp, that doesn't seem to be what he's talking about. Oh well.I think he and I are talking about pure athleticism... vertical, lateral movement, end to end speed... whereas you're taking the view of a total basketball player's athleticism. Hand eye coordination, IQ, ability to use the pure athleticism in the college game.
Ie. I would call a track jumper a better pure athlete than your average basketball player. A jumper still would probably be a terrible basketball player because of the other facets of athleticism you're thinking of.
A kid's pure athleticism is evident by 16 or 17-years-old. Obviously the other stuff is developed in college and after. You could have the pure athleticism and just not know how to use it in the game as well.

The guy in this thread who's seen him live a bunch of times backs that up tho. 429 coaches AAU and has plenty of experience scouting; he's worth listening to on this.
Everything I've read about the kid from talent evaluators says he's got NBA athleticism. Now.
Also, one of the niceness kids around. I know Mrs. Calhoun loved him and I got to know him well during his sabbatical from the team. We had a lot of fun with Chief calling it a sabbatical and Stanley not knowing at first what it was. Chief told him it was when a professor took a semester off and Stanley liked that comparison.Oh Stanley, how I miss you. The guy knew how to get a home crowed on their feet screaming while taking the wind out from under an away game crowed. He was a fun one!
But Burrell had skills and arm talent.Andre Drummond is the best pure athlete in UConn history. You have to adjust for size.

Dont know if he counts for the 90s but Doug Wrenn was an incredible athlete. 6-6 228lb
Top 30 kid out of Seattle. I was so excited when we got him. There is an argument there for him being the best athlete here. Too bad what happened. Never quite the success going forward either.
They aren't the brightest bunch. Especially @docsu and @pauliepeppas.
Agree here. Sticks was powerfully athletic. This young man's highlights seem to show the smooth above the rim athleticism we've really only seen from Ray. Edit and Rudy.He absolutely is, I've watched a lot of his games and it's evident.

Were you his shift manager at Prime Materials, Inc., @Chief00 ?Also, one of the niceness kids around. I know Mrs. Calhoun loved him and I got to know him well during his sabbatical from the team.
