I know there have been about 2,000 threads about the 2006 team and it seems like this will become another one. Do you guys think Villanueva would have made a difference if came back dor his JR year? We could have used another big guy in the G Mason game...

If CV was there that would be just another big who probably would've got scored on in the post. Still can't believe guys are still trotting out the secondary ballhandler excuse. Would that team have been monstrous with AJP, of course, but Josh and Hilton getting outplayed by G Mason's post players is what lost that game.

He's likely a lottery pick, mid first rounder at worst. He could add some muscle, get a little quicker and more agressive, but other than that, the kid has the skill and the talent to play in the NBA from day one.

If the APR fails them then he should leave. But if they can play then he should stay...the more people who come out, the farther he's dropping. He can play himself into a Top 5 kid next year if he gets stronger, improves his continuous movement and ability to finish. Back to more floaters and rebound it all the time, they would drool over his skills. Needs one more to prove his value!

I am a big Jeremy Lamb fan.......and as that fan, for his sake and his family's sake, I hope he goes pro and has a Rip Hamilton type career.

I have no idea what you're looking at as I never read the guru's crap and tend to think of it along what we see. He wasn't as good as they thought he would be and didn't do a very good job against teams who doubled him and had stronger more physical guys guard him. He could very easily drop to the teens and high teens as people come out. If he gets more physical in a year and shoots as well as he can he will be real high next year. Not sure where he stands and if he's top 10 oh well he should go I guess. If it's questionable he can guarantee himself a lot more future money by staying!

Its simple risk/reward. He is the highest rated 2 guard on the board. Seems to me, that there is far more risk for him to come back than reward(at least financially).

And Drummond is the #1 C. And by a rather wide margin too. After him you have Meyers Leonard and Fab Melo. Then Zeller if you consider him a 5, but he is a 4 in my eyes. So basically I think Lamb should be gone no matter what, and I think draft positioning wise this year would be best for AD. If Drummond can find his way to the Cavs they would surely have OKC lite going on up there. Irving can play.

But I think skills wise AD really needs another year.

Lamb's "stock" probably wouldn't change much by coming back. He could however move up, simply because this is a draft loading with talent similar to Lamb. A team might weigh Lamb similar to another player and chose the other player in this draft due to positional need. Next year, the level of talent is much lower, though I'm not sure what the 2G field looks like for next year.

The secondary ballhandler wasn't so much an excuse for the George Mason game in particular, as it was an admitted weakness in that team that we were trying to overcome. It was a huge problem against Washington, which had a good Ricky-type defender to stick on Marcus, and we really should have lost that game.

The other side of the coin for the exact same flaw was that we didn't have any backcourt quickness on defense (even Marcus was slow) so we couldn't pressure the perimeter or stay with shooters on the outside. We also couldn't run some help into the post if we kept getting scored on down there, since our guards couldn't recover quick enough on the shooters. Our bigs were getting scored on, but we didn't have a Plan B on how to deal with it.

On the Bynum/CV thing, Calhoun has said that Hilton was likely going to red shirt that year but he had come so far that he had to play him. Now if you add either Bynum or CV, I'm sure Calhoun would have red shirted Hilton no matter what. So yes, you add Bynum or CV but lose Hilton. Is the team better? Likely. But how much?

"effective" no, but reading and not allowing it is another. He walked into obvious doubles this year without any idea what to do with the ball. He's a decent passer yet he never fully found out what to do when it came at him. That's a pretty important piece at the next level.......
