Amore - Boat, Bazz and Giff back next year

All true, but it's the pessimistic view. It's a self fufilling prophecy...or not. If the existing players don't transfer...none of them would graduate next year. The team playing in 13-14 would be very experienced, and would have a huge chip on its collective shoulder. There is some talent there. It could certainly be ranked and get to the sweet 16. Assuming a good new coach comes in, he may attract some good recruits that fill out that roster, and there could be no real rebuilding.

So if everyone stays, and JC retires next week, followed by Shaka Smart being hired, do you think any of the current HS Juniors would really be reluctant to come to UConn? They could be on a good team, with a bright future. Now if the kids bail, and we recruit a bunch of nobodies who take up our ships, and JC languishes along...we're hosed.

Beat me too it.

In my scenario, one I will call "reality", we're more than a little hosed.

In your scenario, where everyone stays and we hire Shaka Smart next Tuesday, we're probably all set.

We need Carl Spackler to write a manifesto here about why we will be OK.

Welcome to multiple years of Seton Hall like hoops Husky fans.

Do a mission in Africa and come back in 2015 and things should be a touch better

This sucks the big one.

Is there any way your African mission could last to the 2020-2025 range? We could really use some positives around here right now.

I think odds are there are no more transfers. Calhoun said he understands the problem, so he'll announce something soon. If I'm a new coach following JC, a probation year is ideal, providing shelter from expectations. I think it's just as plausible as your scenario. If I said we'd get the recent APR data, that would be dream world.

Most likely it will be somewhere in between.
