Good article. This kid is damn skinny but seems to have a frame to add some solid muscle. Hopefully, he will be like Gorgui Dieng for us a couple years down the road.

Seems to be having a pretty good year too:
16.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.4 blocks and 5 triple doubles so far.

Once again, welcome to UConn!!

The 5 triple doubles stands out for me. I also like the 72% FT shooting because it seems like every big man we had for the last 3-4 years shoots 50% or worse. I like the part of the article where it said hes only missed four shots in the last 3 games. I think this kid will surprise some people.

Dieng would be great........anything else would be gravy. never know.......he's getting better at a pace of others who have joined us in Storrs

Jeff Adrien averaged a hair over 60 and was 64 his senior season. Not great, but a hell of a lot better than 50.

If the kid can even put on 10 pounds that would really help. Hell, Tyson Chandler plays at 240 and he's 7-1. He's strong as hell though, obviously it remains to be seen how Brimah plays with his weight.

Haven't seen him play, but can you imagine a 6'-9" soccer striker? This kid must have incredible foot skills to have played striker. That would seem to serve him well in basketball where moving your feet is so important in playing defense. Probably results in a lot more blocked shots. Once they have a chance to work with him and bulk him up somewhat he should be a really nice addition to the team. I also like the fact that he seems to have offensive touch and can make free throws. Sounds like he can really help us.

Big hope for this kid. Hopefully he can fill in our rebounding void and can stay on the floor for 30 minutes. If not then hope Facey can do it. They are the missing link from making this UConn team a final four contender.

the more I read about him the more I wonder how he isn't a top 100 player. I know the rankings are bs at times and hype during sophomore and junior years plays a big factor, but it seems like his game will translate extremely well to college. He has more length than pretty much any player in college basketball. Clearly he won't block over 6 shots per game, but if he can rebound well enough to stay on the floor than I can see him having a stat line like 25 minutes 4 points 6 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. if olander doesn't regress and facey can contribute atleast 10-15 quality minutes at the 4, than we should have a much improved front court defensively next year.

Yeah but free throws are easier in HS.

Not always. They probably made him a striker just to sit him in front of the net and grab headers. Peter Crouch is a 6'8" striker, used to play for Tottenham and was very good. Terrible foot skills though haha.

In that picture he makes Manute Bol look like Mr. Universe. In his first year or two he will probably get pushed around like Olander et al but at least the longer reach should help. Beg his high school coach to get him in the weight room now.

Is AB still growing? He could be well over 7 feet when he gets to Storrs.

With that length, and hopefully some vertical, KO needs to play him the first minute or two of every game so he can take the tip. Am I the only one that cringes when DD lines up? I know he was won a few...

I have to think he can put on some weight relatively easily - he doesn't have the Jack Skellington frame some of these bean poles have.

I doubt it, he's already 19. I believe most are done getting taller by then. That's fine with me, he can concentrate on getting wider.

We won the tip inOT!

I the only one who thinks brima may be better than facey? they will both be good but brima's taller and a shot blocker, plus I think he has more potential as a rebound

He's not that skinny. There's some muscle tone there and he looks about the same as Nolan. Compared to Austin Pope , Brimah looks like Tony Atlas.

Just in case you are wondering who Jack Skellington is.

Interesting that he seems to be a fairly devout Muslim (prays 5 times a day). I wonder if there will be any times during the season where he will be fasting?

If he's 220# already, that's about 30 more than the other guys we've been recruiting.
