Why isn't the Horde writing something like that? Instead we have Jacobs saying that the new conference isn't so bad for UConn. Tell it like it is! It's a disaster!

A: I'm still holding out for AAC as the conference name
B: I don't think the new conference will be as bad as everyone thinks they are going to be. In saying that top to bottom they will still be the 6th best conference in football to start out. Lot of potential if given a few years to nurture. If SMU can return to national prominence sooner than later, Houston and UCF continue to improve, same with Temple, UConn & Cincy... in 5 years this could turn into a pretty solid football conference minus the baggage(C-7) the Big East had to carry around with it.

Now I wouldn't mind seeing UConn mix it up week to week with the B1G or teach the ACC a weekly lesson for not inviting us in the first place but lets face it in the last 5 years UConn hasn't won more than 8 games in a regular season and they only did that once. 7-5, 7-5, 8-4, 5-7 & 5-7 isn't exactly screaming "We belong with the big boys!" I'm not so sure it's the B1G and the ACC saying "we won't have you" as much as they might be saying "prove you belong first". So now UConn has a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Totally agree about the Courant guys. They need to not sugar coat it so those not following it this closely realize the hell we are about to enter.

I think in their case, choosing "America" for the name is a good idea, seeing as they've proven that they'll invite just about any team from anywhere in the country. (Boise, SDSU, etc.)

I guess this could apply to anywhere in North & South America too.

Yes Maybe that a-12 could take Universidad_Veracruzana (Mexico) or Universidade_Federal_do_ABC (Brazil). Of course A-12 soccer would be good!!

Damn when I first read this, I thought it said they were open to a social media name. They do it for arenas, bowls, ... Why not conferences? The Facebook.com conference.

Yeah. The number thing scares me. Also, the America thing in case we need to find teams in Canada or Mexico.

If recent history tells us anything it tells us that the number in a conference's official name does not need to match that conference's membership.

As far as Canada & Mexico there is an easy fix, just add 'North' to the conference name.
