Yeah but remember RJ Cole? He played in the MAAC and turned into a first team All Big East player.
Howard is in the MEAC, not the MAAC.

That being said, plenty of talent in high-majors started in the MAAC: Walter Clayton Jr., Dannie Jenkins, Javian McCollum, Jalen Leach. Good basketball players are from all levels.

That being said, Monroe sticking around at Quinnipiac, even though he was offered by teams like UConn and Kansas, is pretty incredible. Curious what his NIL there is, but whatever it is, pretty telling to his commitment with the team. If they win the conference tournament, his jersey needs to hang from the rafters in Hamden.

I really agree with this assessment. Ideally we can really use one or two exceptional defenders in that size range. They will automatically have to have speed to qualify as very good defenders which enhances transition offense. Rebounding essential as well. Reach back to the JC era and try to snag a Lyman Depriest or Jeff Adrien type or more recently Tyrese Martin as mentioned above. We need some tough guys to go with the shooters.
Like I said earlier, a Serb and a Lithuanian :p

As far as a 2nd PG, If this kid would be willing to be 6th or 7th guy, he could be a taller version of Hass. He's got a motor and won DPOY in Summit League.

Don't know about the connection but it wouldn't surprise me. Not certain but I think Karaban will announce he's coming back, no testing the waters.
He cannot test , he tested last year, you can only do it one time

Not bad stats overall. 3 teams in 3 years FWIW. Finishes well at the rim. Shoots a ton of FTs (253 last year!), but at a 65% clip.. Decent A:TO ratio

So you can go to the combine an 2nd time but not test? That’s a strange rule. I wonder why.
No, the way I understand it is, if an underclassman declares for the draft and pulls to return to school they cannot declare a 2nd time and withdraw. he needs to be sure if he’s going or not

The only thing is I’ve read that they can enter 2x but I read this about AK when I was home last week.

Yeah, I take back my post. Just learned kid will be 24 in June. Was out of D1 hoops for 2 years from 21-23. At his age, he should dominate Summit League.

Your understanding is wrong

Hear Monroe gets to play hockey too as part of the deal.

At Uconn level we should be recruiting better proven players. We're coming off 2 national championships we should be able to get a good big to replace Johnson.
We did...we got Reibe who is a deluxe version of Johnson - can hit a 3, dribble, block, and rim run.

If adams needs a few years to develop as a Mcdonalds All american than we were wrong to recruit him in the first place. I am not saying we should give him minutes just cause he is a 5 star recuit. I am saying it would be dumb to recruit a 5 star freshman who is not ready to play as a freshman
Adams is fine with the ball. He slipped twice at the McD's AA but one was a foul called, the other was a tight turn and they wiped the floor after. No call.

He's a pest on D, and can dance with the ball to create a shot, but that game was built to feature 3-4 guys only. Even Mullins was a virtual decoy.

From "95% sure" he was going to Rutgers to staying put.

If it came between Quinnipiac and Rutgers I’d stay in Hamden too.
I know I would much rather be at Rutgers than in Hamden, and this is coming from someone who grew up 25 minutes from Rutgers campus and specifically did not want to go there for undergrad.

Got a huge campus full of state-U students, New Brunswick ain’t great but you have super easy access to NY, B1G NIL…

Interesting to read that he was kind of “put off” by UConn because they were recruiting other guys at his position as well. Yes, that is how these things work? They re-recruited their own guys (and got them) and filled their biggest need at point guard. With the way things are now, it’s a business decision to put yourself in the portal, and it’s a business decision for teams to fill their needs. This UConn staff has an efficient way of prioritizing and getting who they want the vast majority of the time. Tough break for Rutgers, though.
