UConn legends watch as Huskies win championship: 'This doesn't happen everywhere'
Multiple players from each of UConn's first 11 national champions and also their first Final Four team were there to congratulate the Huskies and their former coach Geno Auriemma as well as his first recruit from 1985, Kris (Lamb) Caruso.
"This doesn't happen everywhere," Auriemma said. "This doesn't happen often if at all. To have that many former national champions from your school come watch and see you play is special, but we have a special bond with all of our players and that bond is never going to be broken."
It's easy to understand why that is.
"Coach Auriemma for four decades now has helped women grow into the best versions of themselves," 1995 national champion, Player of the Year at UConn and ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo said. "He's helped women have their lives changed in all the right ways. We all feel indebted to him from the moment we move on.
Bueckers joined Stewart as the only UConn players to be named to the all-Final Four team four times. The fifth-year guard joined Moore as the only players in NCAA Tournament history to be named a regional MOP four times. She had 17 points Sunday and finishes her career No. 1 in points per game in UConn history at 19.83 per game. Moore held the mark for 14 years at 19.71.

Maybe they lived a quiet life — went about their business without drawing unnecessary attention to themselves. However, with Sarah‘s excellent play on the biggest basketball stage, everyone now knows who they are!!

Not sure if he counts, but Stewie's dad was sitting next to her during the game. Her parents certainly got a lot of "airtime" during games and the signing of Stewie's LOI will live on in infamy.

Sarah was born in Madrid, and didn't come to the US until she was ten. There were no agents, no hangers on, as I'm betting her parents knew the environment. In an interview last weekend, Allison said that Sarah played on an AAU team with her friends, even after being courted by some of the bigger programs.

yes. the WBCA conference is that weekend as well....they were like all staying at the embassy suites where I was...so sat with a bunch of different coaches/players at breakfast.
was she actually there though?

quote or no quote, the implication was that she "PLAYED" 5 years, when she didn't. In a era, because of the extra covid year, some players actually played for 5 years. Bueckers did not.
