Andre Dummond (probably not fair since he was a FR), Travis Knight, Tyler Olander, Taliek Brown, Ricky Moore

I hate this thread! We don't get to bash enough other schools, current players etc... now we need to go back and hate folks who wore our own colors. This can truly be a disturbed board!

Who's hating on anyone? This was a list of players who got flak by our fans. Learn how to read.

Mandeldove was just too goofy and lazy for anyone to hate on him. They just made him the butt of most jokes during his time (which must have lasted almost a decade).

He didn't play enough - he was more of an annoyance and a cautionary tale than anything else. A top-100 recruit and he accounted for all of eight made baskets in four years on the UConn campus.

Eight baskets, 14 turnovers, 34 rebounds and 46 fouls.

He was just one point away from becoming UConn's 437th 22-point scorer.

I feel bad for him - I'm certain that regret over his UConn career is going to haunt him down the road.

I thought this thread was going to be about opponents we hated
1 Christian Laettner
Everyone else tied for 2nd
I can't say I ever hated on a UConn player
Criticized their game from time to time but never hated.
Even thought some of these kids didn't belong, but that's more on the staff than the kid.
Actually the guys we should hate are the guys who left the school in bad Academic status allowing the NCAA the opportunity to stick it to us.

Antric Klaiber is a bit like Mandeldove but he was certainly a better player. Klaiber came in with a big rep and fell into Calhoun's doghouse fairly quickly. Klaiber was never going to be a great player but I think he could have had some modicum of success had he not made a couple of mistakes and been forever stuck in Calhoun's doghouse. I was extremely happy when JC put Klaiber in the '99 title game.

I can understand why some of the other players caught flack but the negative comments towards Selvie's game drove me nuts. He's one of the 15 best players to ever don a UConn jersey and is arguably our best power forward ever.
Wouldn't have him in the top 50 but have to give him credit as a very good rebounder.

.-.
He probably doesn't belong in the same conversation as some of the other guys, but go back and check out some of the threads about Napier during his sophomore year here. Not pretty.

I don't remember people hating Hasheem. Taliek is far and away the boneyards whipping boy. anyone who thinks Selvie is one of UCONN's top 15 players has smoked more weed than Selvie

Marcus williams and aj price have to be on the list

Is this hatred by UConn fans or by opponents? I sure hope people don't "hate" AJ Price. I can see bing disappointed in both of them, but hating them?

.-.

That was definitely a result of team performance though. Had Dyson played in 2009 NCAAs, there'd probably be a diff narrative for him.

The guys who were truly killed, despite winning a whole bunch of hardware, take the top slot in this game.

Not possible. Selvie was born with a joint in his mouth. Little known fact.

Nate Miles.

Miles, AJP, and Williams deserved it though.

I admit to having a big soft spot for AJP though. I love how he matured over his time at UCONN, despite setbacks, self inflicted or otherwise. He truly graduated a man. Williams? Not so much. Miles...well.

Also, I think AJP could have been one of the all time great UCONN point guards had he been healthy for 4 years. Probably wouldn't have had all that downtime to get in trouble either.

My dad hated Hasheem more than anyone should rightfully hate a person. I think alot of that came from my dad's love of Okafor and Boone.

fixed that for you.
The little known fact is that the pounds of weed Mike Hayes got popped with was Johnny times daily head stash. :-)

We don't need this thread. Really see no need to bash our guys. They are all Yvonne.

Poor guy being compared to Okafor. That's like saying, well, this guy's no Jordan, so I hate him.

Again, we are not bashing our guys. We are bashing the guys who are (were) bashing our guys.

Can't knock Mike Hayes industriousness. Execution? Not so much.

Though in fairness, it's not easy being Johnnie Selvie's marijuana mule.

You can't be serious.

Shocker, I come on the boneyard today to see more Johnnie Time bashing. Selvie, top 5 UConn player of all-time?

Dyson fault is that he tried to hard. Not a bad fault. Probably why he has endured even getting a couple of NBA looks.
This trait helped us but also hurt us ,when he went beyond his limits.
I agree on 2009 ,we actually only had two guards in that tourny.
He would have been huge. Especially since that team had a clear leader.

How bout the All Can Do No Wrong Team
First overall pick -- Niels Giffey.

Mind you, I love the guy, too, but I think you could count on one hand the number of negative threads about him over four years, which is pretty rare

A tiny little bit his sophomore year - he didn't step up when we had a void at the 3. But he only had limited chances.

Okafor would be my first pick. Exceeded expectations every year and rarely had a disappointing game. KEA was close, but had a little bit of criticism at times - the 2-18 against Florida State early in his career and the team struggling at times his junior year ("not stepping up without Rip"). But both passed quickly. I can't remember if Adrien took some criticism for not leading in 2006-07 - that team was so poor that no one person was really at fault. And he was only a soph.

Yeah Emeka would be my first pick. People also loved Rashad. I can't remember how Caron was perceived his Freshman year but I don't really recall anyone hating on him either.

Nadav and Doron have to be first-teamers on the All Can Do No Wrong Team.
