Boy that won’t quite be the same as a retirement ceremony in South Carolina. I would hope her decision was made before watching Connecticut game against the powerhouse St. John’s team. Ouch.
now we're competing on retirement ceremonies!!!??? all those banners in gampel are compelling, i think.
but a visit is supposed to give a feel for what the recruit's life would be like on campus, how she thinks she would fit in, maybe the overall vibe of the place, etc. etc. if the kid is gonna make a retirement ceremony (or banners) a deciding factor, i wouldn't want her.

She's an interesting prospect. A dual citizen (US-Can), raised in Thunder Bay Ontario. Don't know much about her training prior to her involvement with Kia Nurse Elite and Crestwood.

Thunder Bay is not exactly a short drive to most places in the province. Heck, technically she's closer to Minnesota and northern Michigan in comparison if she had stayed in Thunder Bay. How our provinces were divided wasn't really logical when you look at Canada on a map. :D
Like most of the rest of the world, Canada's cities existed before their Provinces or the country founding.

1642 - Villa-Marie (now Montreal)
1793 - York (now Toronto)

So you get the idea just like Venice and Rome and London and Paris existed before their countries.

1867 started the providences and Canada became a country.

She had a full OV to SCar back in November when she met with advisors spent time on campus. The recent visit for the ceremony was a simple unofficial visit where a recruit doesn’t have time for those more serious matters.

Considering that it was A'ja Wilson's jersey being retired, having an opportunity to be on hand for something like that doesn't come around often. Why begrudge her the option to be on hand for something like this? The logic on why you wouldn't want her part of roster comes across petty/superficial.

And the unofficial visit is at her family's expense. The way I see it, they took advantage of an opportunity to see an impactful moment which I totally respect. A'ja Wilson's story as a teen dealing with an undiagnosed learning disability to become the person, in addition to the athlete, is something everyone can learn from.

I don’t begrudge for the visit. It’s a special opportunity however the look says South Carolina commitment at least that’s what I have to believe so I can let my Agita die down a little bit. I need to keep my blood pressure in mind but still have my fingers crossed.

I think it's clear she is leaning towards SC. That will be a great win for Dawn.

Fair, but health always supercedes everything. Keep those fingers crossed, but in moderation. ;)

Hmm. So in the poll thread in the main board, I posted on Jan 27 that Agot would be committing within two weeks, per an article from 247sports. So, here we are ... then again, it's not anyone's timeline, it's hers and I hope she uses it wisely.

Whatever. Aaliyah Boston basically had season tickets at UConn and see what she did...I believe Agot goes to school in FL not Canada so it's a quick flight to see SC.

Because of the delay in her announcement, I am starting to wonder if her decision has anything to do with upcoming senior nights. It could be a factor at the other two schools too, but imagine how different the situation for Agot would be if all three of Paige, Azzi and Caroline left, vs. the scenario of all three returning as they could?

To preclude any future speculation regarding the possibility of UConn wbb players returning for an addition year of eligibility, I have declared that there be no more pandemics or player injuries for all time.

Here's a random thought, and I have no insight, just having some fun. Let's say Agot is coming to UConn and nothing has been made public as of yet. What if she was asked to hold off announcing her pick until after senior day, as if she were to announce before March 2, it tips off a bunch of decisions by our players, they get bombarded with Qs, and then that's the media focus? Senior day, IMHO, is to celebrate them, without any media circus baggage.

After all, Sarah didn't announce until April 6, which was between the NCAA semi and final games.

In no way I am assuming anything with our seniors, nor am I making any predictions concerning who will be on the roster next season. I know better.

And this pseudo-logic could also be applied to SC and MSU, her other two finalists. Just sayin'

There are not quite as many variables as last year, but you could be correct. Doing the number crunching regarding possible roster spots the last few years has been very difficult for any program near the maximum, but made even more challenging because of the Covid year, the increase in activity in the portal with the waiting year removed, and NIL monetary considerations, and in our case the huge number of players with an extra year due to a red shirt.

This year it is a little clearer. For another addition, all three of Paige, Azzi and Caroline cannot return, unless someone else left in the portal. Obviously Paige indicated that she expected this to be her last year, but she hasn't totally shut the door on the possibility of returning either, and some think there are significant reasons she might not like her anticipated WNBA destination etc, so I don't think that decision is cast in stone yet.

Uconn has generally been pretty protective of player's privacy regarding stay or go decisions, and injuries, and I expect that to continue. Of course Geno did spill the beans on Aubrey last year ahead of senior night, so I think he will be even more carefull to let them announce on their terms this year.

Either at the post-game presser for Seton Hall or Butler, Paige was asked
point blank if she was considering NOT going into the WNBA draft. Her
answer was brief and unequivocally... she was going into the draft. Now
Paige could change her mind... but... the tone and brevity of her answer
left me with NO DOUBT.
