Addazio fired after 7 seasons at BC

He is a .500 coach in a league that BCU should do better than and yet they don't year in and year out.

I take it is as sorta karma coming around and kicking the school in the nutz, but that's me

One would think, at the very least, we might want to consider poaching an assistant or 2 from this BCU staff now that is no more. We have a patchwork job on our side currently, in some spots. Just sayin....

Not true. Have family friends who are very close (invited to his wedding and daughters wedding)

I know someone who knows him very well. Before BC he was doing everything in his power to get a gig in CT. He wanted the Yale head coaching job but didn’t get it. He is from Farmington I believe and his wife really enjoyed living in Cheshire.

Briles and the State of Connecticut

do we have the self awareness to understand that certain things won’t fly at our University or in this State. If that means we won’t compete at a certain level ... fine. It is OUR Identity

Addazio said negative things about UConn and the AAC. It's called recruiting as he wanted to get the best kids in Connecticut to go to BC and not go to UConn.

If you go to Twitter, there are some negative Addazio stories from ex-players and staff.

Just read a nice one involving Josh Keyes... get your popcorn eat on on that one...

Here is how Addazio's passing offense ranked when he was OC or HC:

2009: Florida 41
2010: Florida 88
2011: Temple 116
2012: Temple 120
2013: BC 114
2014: BC 124
2015: BC 125
2016: BC 120
2017: BC 114
2018: BC 81
2019: BC 107

He is a run first coach pro-style coach which has held his teams back.

Look at BC's starting QBs from 1990 through 2008. Every one of them were either drafted by the NFL, played in the NFL, or were on the preseason roster.

Anyone here who wouldn’t take him as OC/ associate HC is insane. I don’t care what his offenses were ranked. Another real adult in the room would do wonders, he would recruit the area well, and his approach jives with Edsall who we are stuck with. If he is getting buy out money maybe he doesn’t mind making 300k to live where he wants to.

They know each other and have a similar approach. I don’t know if they like each other. He is from PP coaching tree.

No way RE would take him on his staff.
He would be considers a threat to RE and not malleable enough

I knew Steve from his younger days as a teenager. He decent, honorable human being who was and is a good coach. BC got into the ACC because they are the big fish in the pond in New England and produce a lot of tv revenue. Unfortunately, that does not result in getting five star players which is very difficult to do in the East coast. The last truly Eastern team to win a national championship was Syracuse and that was during the period of segregation when the best black athletes were barred from teams like Alabama, LSU , and Flordia.

Not sure if this was meant to be critical of Addazio. I am sure that he did rub some people the wrong way... how could you not when you coached forever and at many places. And I have no idea if he would make a good successor to RE.

He did not have to keep in touch with let alone continue to act as a mentor or benefactor to the kids he coached years ago in High School. Yet I know many people and have heard many stories of how he did. Under the radar, without expectation of benefit or publicity. He is fiery for sure. But beyond all else a good man imho.

Everybody, deep down, has good in them, and, if you truly understand the person, knows that they are good folk; however, if anything Josh Keyes wrote in the twitter feed is true, he abused his power... BCU fell for it.. not a good look for BCU....

BC produces nothing at all. Good academic school but athletically, it hasn’t done anything of note in many years and has a minimal following in the Boston market. It is hard to find game recaps in the Boston Globe, let alone real coverage.

I just spent my whole weekend listening to FSU fans complain about Syracuse, Boston College and Wake Forest ruining the ACC.

Addazio as head coach with pasqualoni coming home to be the D coordinator. The high school coaches will be orgasmic

Addazio is no world beater, but he took an absolute train wreck and corrected it very quickly. Then he played a little over .500 ball. Canning him is a bet on getting BC over the hump to compete for conference championships. I think the probability of slipping is much higher.

Football is easier and a better P5 fit at a State University

BC - deceitfully - foisted themselves ahead of their Big East partners in 2003. And lied. And then tried to blackball The University of Connecticut from a position in that conference. They’re creeps. If a sinkhole opened up in Newton & sucked that school down to hell - Jesuit priests First - that would be a good revolting recourse for our pain & suffering.

If we can turn UConn FB and men's basketball around maybe we can replace BC, WF or Syracuse in the ACC. I am still hopeful.

Just think how much harder it would have been for BC had UConn made it into the ACC.

Addazio made $2.6 million in 2019. He ain't coming to work with Edsell for $300k. LOL.

Not him.. maybe one of his assistants.. we currently don't have anybody primarily focusing on one of the bigger issues on our defense, linebackers... We're working with a staff built like a D2 school right now... a coach being the OC and manning OL???? and was never a OC before? at this level no less... and a DC coaching LB's. I feel good about our DC, but let him place his primary focus there... Get a LB coach in here

If we were in the ACC, the fan base and state of CT as a whole would have demanded a competitive basketball and football program. The AAC has led to mostly indifference.

Addazio did a wonderful job with a wonderful job with Aaon Hernandez when he stole him from the Huskies and put him AH under his wing.

Pretty damning story on Twitter

Hmmmm, you agree with someone on facebook that your former HC and then current HC "can't recruit" and then you are surprised when there are repercussions? Addazzio may have been a dick to deny him a free ticket, but you can't expect in this word to publicly crap on your old boss and nothing comes from it. I wouldn't have done what Addazzio did - but I also wouldnt have come to the stadium expecting a free ticket once I took my shot at the current HC.

unless you look at Rivals which always had them higher on the recruiting sites due to a Rival individual who went there and always gave them a bump in the ratings.
