To put it mildly. Only major conference program to never win a tournament game.despite not being historically great.

Wow, amazing stat. Undeniable, you might say.To put it mildly. Only major conference program to never win a tournament game.

I don't know about "better" than Jeff Adrien. He's a different player in a different era. Adrien was a classic strong, but not tall 4 that could jump and play facing (in close) or back to the basket. Basically a poor man's Charles Barkley.
Sanogo is a 2020 era center. Even in the NBA we are seeing powerful, mobile 6'8-6'10" guys playing center (or even Russell Westbrook). It wasn't possible in the Kareem, Olajuwan, Ewing era. But with four out offenses, that mobility and quickness, plus the strength to hold ground is the key to defending the position. He's an ideal fit for how Hurley wants us to play. While I'm told he's not a shooter now, I suspect if he comes her Hurley will have him practice outside shooting a ton. Ideally you want that 5 to be able to set a ball screen and either roll or step back for a pass and make a shot.
Basically we would be getting Charles Barkley.I mean I basically said that about Adrien.
Sanogo does all the things Adrien did, but he's got other physical tools I think allow him to do more (or will). And most importantly more mobility and versatility, which is the kind of big that Hurley loves to have.
We did.....then we were humping #1 Ohio St for 20 minutes the next game when Fatso Francesca came on the halftime show and said we were playing better than any team in the tournament. That's partly on us. I think we beat them in '92, in an 8 v. 9 game, playing without Rod Sellers who was suspended for accidently trying to push Laetner's head into the subbasement in UConn's tournament exit the year before. IIRC, it wasn't a close game. Danny Cyrulik and Bo Willingham held down the middle fine without SEllers.
They really want Sanago for 2020, but he is not a lock by any means to reclassify.

No but they have some 2021 targets they are in better shape for at the moment. Is it 2020 or nothing on uconn's end?
Dream scenario. Would put us in great shape for next season and we would be killers in 2021-22.They really want Sanago for 2020, but he is not a lock by any means to reclassify.
I figure Etienne of the day we’ll get a good big for 2021 one way or the other. No but they have some 2021 targets they are in better shape for at the moment.
Why?
Is it 2020 or nothing on uconn's end?
he could be a top 25-30 recruit by next year at the rate he's going. if he doesnt reclassify we might have to start worrying about the likes of duke and kentucky never mind seton hall and nebraska...anyone getting a list of potential grad transfer bigs ready?

What I remember is Ollie recommending a kid to Cincy. And the kid came back and beat us in a game. I have no desire to see double doubles from Sanogo as we lose 8 games to Seton Hall over the next 4 years. Rather have him wasted in Nebraska than making all league over us.
If you get a visit you have a shot and I like our pitch a hell of a lot more than Seton Halls or Nebraska ATMThe No. 7 center in the Class of 2021 per 247Sports.com, Sanogo is planning to visit Seton Hall, UConn and Nebraska. It’s unclear which will be official and which unofficial.
“Soon I’m going to start to go visit,” the native of Mali said Thursday night after the Patrick School lost to Long Island Lutheran, 68-63. “Right now I don’t know yet, but soon.”

I think we have a pretty good chance, haven't heard Seton Hall leads. If you get a visit you have a shot and I like our pitch a hell of a lot more than Seton Halls or Nebraska ATM
Or Sanogo is that good.
Seton Halls been all in on him tho, and Willard is a good coach, wouldn’t dismiss them at all. Either way, seems like we’re in a good spot with 2021 bigs. Would be ideal to have him reclass and get him in early. If not, can’t help but feel like an impact grad transfer big is the answer for the 2020 class. If you get a visit you have a shot and I like our pitch a hell of a lot more than Seton Halls or Nebraska ATM
