we're not going to the b1g.
Love these people who know no more than the rest of us, but state it confidently.
Conference realignment has years to play out and many wild cards. It's being driven more than ever by TV markets, and the northeast is the only major TV market up for grabs. No telling how it plays out, but outside of the top 5 conferences Notre Dame, UConn, Rutgers, Louisville, and maybe Houston if it develops are the top remaining attractions. USF, UCF, SMU, and San Diego State have potential. Maybe even Temple if they become popular in Philly. If you were going for the northeast media, UConn and Rutgers would make sense as a 2-team grab.
The northeast is a potential TV viewer gold mine. NY/NJ/CT have 32 million people, same as IL/MI/OH which is the Big Ten's bread and butter. Just adding two teams could potential increase B1G TV audience by 20-30%. If UConn and Rutgers go to the ACC it secures that conference's hold on the northeast. Don't think the B1G doesn't see that it's only real opportunity to gain revenue by expansion is in the northeast.
