Wasn't televised but looks like the backcourt did what people expected. No Sonia Citron it appears, and they only played like 7. Hope ND is healthier this year than they were last year

Who did they play?

Who did they play?
Davenport, a DII team.

As expected, this was a mismatch. Good news for the Irish: Miles and Hidalgo look as good as ever. Bad news for the Irish: Citron and reserve Emma Risch were held out for precautionary reasons, and transfer forward Liza Karlen hurt her ankle in the first half and did not return to the game.

I didn’t watch a second of this. But on paper it looks like one of the more unimpressive exhibition game results. And it suits my argument so I am posting it.

My argument is that Stanford will be down this year and may not make the ncaa tournament. I do like the Tess Heal acquisition though.

I think most expect Stanford to be down considering all the turnover. Not making the tournament would be a surprise though!

State played Anderson in an exhibition and won 91-54.

Notables from the game - azaiah James, Zoe brooks, Madison Hayes and Caitlyn Weimar did not play - all projected starters. Sounds like Weimar is potentially missing the entire season whereas the other 3 were held out for precautionary reasons and had minor sprains - although James’s is a knee so maybe a little more concerning.

Freshman Zam Jones led the team with 19 points 9 boards and 4 assists. Rivers had 14 points 10 boards and 5 assists. Balanced scoring with everyone getting at least 5 points and 5 in double figures. The post is the big question and Awou, Williamson, and Collier combined to go 12-15 which is nice but can’t take anything away from it really as State had a massive size advantage which won’t be the case against bigger schools.

Overall the freshmen flashed a lot of potential but hard to take much from this game with 80% of the starters not playing and the post not having a fair fight down low.

keep in mind re: Stanford that the starting PG did not play - in addition to it being a major rebuild. But Go Nunu Agara too!

I'm reserving judgement on how good Stanford will be: they have 8 players who were ranked in the ESPN 100 on their roster, and four international players who obviously weren't ranked but are pretty good. I think the basics are there, if they don't do well with that amount of talent then it's on the coaching staff.

Would she be eligible for a redshirt? Weimar

She should be eligible yes. Wes Moore hasn't given any details, just that she has a long recovery ahead, kept it vague. So she could be back this year, I don't really know.

I know it means nothing at this point but I've never seen half of the ACC with a loss this early in the season.

Btw somebody should start an ACC 2024-25 thread ;)
