I think that would be pretty tough hill to climb. Especially if the "favoritism" shown is confined to their football program, which is non-participatory in the ACC.Notre Dame will do what it always does. It will weigh its options and court offers from everyone. It won't be reactionary or act out of hurt feelings or bruised egos. Love them or hate them, Notre Dame has been very intelligent about how it has positioned itself in the modern era. As long as they are holding the trump card of their NBC broadcast deal, they are well positioned to do what ever they decide is in their best interest.
For what it's worth, I suspect that the whole "ACC permanently damaged it's relationship with ND" petulance is predominantly aimed at building a record so that ND has can argue that the conference be breached its duties to Notre Dame, which would be a basis to eliminate or reduce exit fees, if and when Notre Dame chooses to leave the conference. I don't know if you can read much more from it than that except, possibly, that it is positioning itself to leave if the ACC loses other major players.
