But as Triad notes, the GAC is a phenomenal facility and is known as one of the fastest pools in the country. The indoor YMCA nationals are held there frequently.

Based on what I've seen it looks like locks for the tournament are:

UL
Duke
UNC
ND
State
Cuse
VT
UVA
Clemson

Clemson, VT, UVA are all listed as the last 4 byes by Charlie Creme...essentially 4 spots ahead of the bubble. Clemson and UVA match up tomorrow, I find it hard to believe the loser will drop 5 spots - but the loser will definitely be getting a little sweaty on selection Sunday. Similarly VT will play the winner of GT/FSU, I mean if they lost that game it will certainly be a bad loss...but is it enough to keep them out? I sort of doubt it.

As for teams on the wrong side of the bubble...Stanford is currently listed as the 4th team out by Charlie Creme. What do they have to do to have a real chance? Today they play Miami, clearly a must win. If they win they get ND, also would be a must win. Then they would line up with NC State...to me that too feels like a must win. If Stanford goes 3-1 in the tournament and ultimately beats Miami, ND and State and loses to a Duke...is that enough to jump up 4 spots?

Cal isn't listed in the first 8 teams out, nor is Miami. So I'm assuming they both have to win the tournament the same way Wake, GT or FSU would have to do.

Have yall seen anything about the bubble teams (VT, UVA, Clemson, Stanford) to suggest otherwise?

No way. I feel like they needed to win 3 in the ACCT to have a shot. Losing twice to Miami in a 2 week span with your season on the line is pretty telling. The thing is, I look at that roster and they are better than that. I know Agara missed time and that hurt, but she was back for both the Miami debacles.

When I watched them in Raleigh a while back I felt like they were missing a PG. Admittedly I don't watch a ton of Stanford, but that feels like a big hole on their team to me. They also don't really shoot the 3 well. Was really impressed with Agara and Ogden though. They have more talent than Clemson or VT I'd say - maybe the pieces just don't fit as well.

NC State men are playing themselves out of the NCAAT. Two blowout losses surrounding a WTF loss to Notre Dame. Duke must have run that same "bust the zone and get an easy look inside" 15 consecutive times and the Wolfpack never stopped it nor even attempted a new look to try forcing Duke to work a little harder. Men against little boys last night.

I think the bigger hole here is "lack of coaching". Theirs is a coaching issue.

#1 Depth to absorb the swimmers stroke and kicking turbulence usually 10 feet at both ends.
#2. Excess side lanes, have a 10 lane pool but only use 8 lanes to absorb the side wash and not “kick off the Walls to slow outside lane swimmers
#3. Usually a bulkhead at one end (a bridge either with starting blocks or just 1/2 wall so water flows underneath. Many pools are 50 meter+ long with the bulk head sliding up to shorten the length to 25 yards. The “half” not used is accessed for pre race warm ups and post race warm down (need to get rid of lactic acid build up in the muscles)
#4. Pool temperature needs to be 78-81 degrees. Basically cold.
#5. Flat walls at the ends with gutters on the sides.
#6. Double lane line baffles to prevent competitor waves/wash from entering another lane.
#7. Separate diving area with 2-1 meter boards and 2-3 meter boards.

Then as I said there are the larger deck space for the officials, scoring table, timing system consul and any times competitor seating.
Large digital score board, good spectator area.

If Debbie Ryan doesn't step in and put an end to this mess, next year is going to be even worse with all the departures/graduations.

UVA donors paid millions of dollars for this crap! Bought a roster and can't even get 20 regular season wins?

I really like Shawn Poppie as a coach. Love the energy he brings on the sideline. I'll be rooting for him and Clemson and hope he can continue to build on his success especially with the recruiting class he has coming in.
 
Syracuse won their first ACC tourney game under Coach Jack today. Interested to see how they handle L’Ville tomorrow. Last time these two teams met, the Cardinals won by 20.

UL never trailed in that first one, jumped out to a 28-6 lead in the 1st quarter and it was never competitive. SU has struggled to compete against the better teams they've played this year. They've been good about not stubbing their toe and beating who they should. But against teams in the NET top 40 they are 1-7, the lone win coming against UVa (37) who is about the most inconsistent team in the conference. Of those 7 losses, 6 were by double digits with the 1 exception being an OT loss to UNC.

I wouldn't mind seeing SU win, but I'm not super confident they can make it happen.

NC State just lost its 10th game of the season in a blowout to Notre Dame. State played one game in the ACC tournament. ONE.

They don't look as good as their numbers would indicate.
