YesIs Notre Dame a part of the ACC in all sports except football?
There will never be a perfect solution. I'm actually stunned James Madison and Tulane both got in. Also almost half the SEC got in (I'm exaggerating, but not by all that much), after the utter indignation of only 3 of their members being invited last season.I think it's all politics and optics. What did he expect Commissioner Jim Phillips to advocate for Notre Dame (who is not a member of the conference in football) over Miami (who IS a member of the conference for football). I think all of this is just lip service to soothe the fanbase.
Maybe this will force Notre Dame to join the ACC (or some other conference) for football. They wanted to remain independent in football, and now this sticky wicket we're experiencing now was destined to happen eventually. If they had beaten Miami, this wouldn't be an issue.
That being said...I think Notre Dame should be in the CFP over James Madison. ND was 4 points from being undefeated. JMU is good but I doubt they'd have the record they do if they had played Notre Dame's schedule.
Ok...back to WCBB!
Yep and the ACC has bent over backwards for ND every step of the way. Let’s them stay independent in football. Let them play football in the conference that Covid year when they had no other path for a season. ND is a major reason Stanford and Cal are in the conference. Not sure why ND expects the ACC not to go to bat for one of their full fledged members to get in the playoff over them. The ACC is better off getting a school in than not. The ACC is better off with ND in the league as a football team too, but ND doesn’t want that. If ND would like the ACCs marketing team to promote them for the playoff maybe they should join the conference. Is Notre Dame a part of the ACC in all sports except football?
Yeah, honestly this is my opinion as well. If they want ACC advocacy, then they need to jump wholly into the conference instead of taking this one-foot-in, one-foot-out approach.Yep and the ACC has bent over backwards for ND every step of the way. And I will add : as long as Notre Dame insists on keeping its own TV and bowl money, they will never be offered by the SEC or BIG.Miami shares football proceeds with other ACC members. ND doesn’t, that’s why they are not a full member. That’s why the ACC promoted Miami. Simple and natural self interest at work on both sides. Money - always trace it!

My sister in law is a uva grad and her son currently attend a JMU. They were a house divided during the game. The only reason James Madison got in was that Duke beat UVA. They showed a couple of JMU fans at the ACC championship game rooting for Duke. If UVA would have won, they would have been the #11 seed facing Ole Miss with Tulane facing Oregon.
If ND pulls out of the ACC because they missed the playoff that will be quite the hissy fit. Like it’s the conferences fault you lost to Miami. Why would you expect the ACC to not promote its own ? To me it feels very entitled of ND to blame the ACC. I get the frustration with the committee. They were touted as being in the whole time and then suddenly it flipped without them playing a game. But how is that the ACCs fault? Be mad at the SEC for Alabama getting in and jumping up in the rankings after beating 5-7 Auburn by a whisker. Just feels like they are lashing out and taking out their frustrations on the wrong people.I am curious how this ND drama will play out. Is this just a football hissy fit or will they really pull out of the ACC completely?

Not sure what your opinion is on this article but mine is this:![]()
UNC women flourishing with new-look offense, big strides by Toomey, help from male practice players
CHAPEL HILL — The No. 12 North Carolina women are off to an impressive start, thanks to playing well with a radically different offense and turning up the defense each game.tarheeltribune.com
UNC under Banghart has had victories against Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, NC State. The issue with is with them is that in any given season, they will lose a random non conference game and at least two or three games against mid to lower tier ACC teams like Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami (down year version), Syracuse, Virginia, and Wake Forest. Plus she seems to have an apathetic attitude towards the ACC tournament. I don't know if she is like that because she didn't have to coach or play in a post season conference tournament when she was in the Ivy League. Not sure what your opinion is on this article but mine is this:
The next BIG WIN UNC has, will be their 1st under Courtney Banghart. This team is vastly over rated, yet they have highly ranked players but the sum of their parts is less than the whole. I will be watching with great interest in their upcoming ACC games vs. Louisville, ND, NC State and Duke to see how they really perform. They got blown out in a scrimmage by Tennessee, lost by 15 to Texas and 18 to UCLA so I am NOT sold on this team at all. And NO, I am not trying to curry favor with @triaddukefan by saying this (but if he approves, it will make me happy).
I have wanted to like Banghart for what she achieved at Princeton but her petulant behavior over the years at UNC has irritated me and her garnering of top players but underachieving in both the ACCT and NCAAT has me skeptical on her actual coaching. She needs to advance further than the Sweet 16 at some point and finish higher than 4th in the ACC and make it to an ACCT final. For gosh sake's Banghart has only made it to one ACC Semi-final in her 6 years of coaching at this school. So until she actually wins something of note at UNC, this is much ado about NOTHING. Hopefully Triad is happy....
Scoring 64 against Texas is actually pretty good isn't it? Nobody else has done better so far. Well, UCLA scored 65, but 1 point is splitting hairs. South Carolina also scored 64.They only scored 60 and 64 against UCLA and Texas
I don't disagree with your overall take, I would maybe question just how strong that schedule is really. K State doesn't look very good at all this year and I know SDSU and Fairfield have nice NET rankings, I'm still not sure how great they are. But that's not the larger point, I do think UNC will be in the mix for the conference this year. I think there are about 5 schools who realistically will be in that fight : Duke, UNC, State, ND and Louisville. All of them have their warts, none are elite this year. In year's past the ACC regular season champ may go 16-2 or something like that, I'd be surprised if that's the case this year. I think the conference has a decent number of good to mid tier teams but lacks true elite teams.I’m not a big Banghart fan. I think her comments and demeanor are far removed from what she’s actually accomplished with talented rosters.
That said, North Carolina looks the best this year that I’ve seen them under Banghart. Offense is smoother and they’ve played one of the stronger across-the-board schedules nationally (UCLA, Texas, Fairfield, Columbia, SDSU, K-State).
They only scored 60 and 64 against UCLA and Texas but those numbers would probably have been in the low 50s last year.
With the caveat that the ACC doesn’t have a Final Four contender to be found, I think they’re a top two favorite to win the league.
