ACC 2020 Schedule: 10+1?

Just ask Clemson...they already have had 43 players/staff positive....but no hospitalizations reported..life goes on. If there is such a thing as herd immunity for covid, Clemson is working on it...

The truth is that the athlete will probably fare better than the student body re covid....Universities, if concerned, should just shut down except for on line courses.
 
What is the liabilty for calling in staff and professors to teach and one of them dies? Or a on campus student?

Or cafeteria workers, or janitorial staff...

Well, as said, they're partial members of the ACC in football, whether they'll say it outright or not.

In the spirit of "fairness" and "equality" P5 conferences should make ND play by the same rules as everyone else. They are not the end all and be all of college football, or any other sport.

Most ACC fans would agree with that....and there is not much love for the Irish lofty ways. But Notre Dame is unique....huge tradition going back to Rockne, always an independent (and now only in football), a brand that draws interest wherever they play,.....and they do not need money...

ND is willing to give up independence when p00p hits the fan but some dude here is saying that will never happen.
 
Got to wonder....what kind of week will AD David Benedict have? Time to actually start a rescheduling plan with some feeler phone calls or wait one more week?

Its probably time to start those feelers. The theater of absurd continues.

The ACC will let them play as a conference member for a year hoping that it will entice them...while the Notre Dame AD bats his eyelashs and flirts..."come a little bit closer..you're my kind of man"

I don’t even think there’s any question how the relationship exists and will continue going forward.

Both sides understand that these are extenuating circumstances, and that while the Irish are at best a football partner to the ACC, it helps both the Irish and the ACC football membership to have a temporary arrangement that will benefit everyone during these “uncertain times”. The Irish won’t have a giant hole blown in their schedule, and while they won’t get Navy, USC or Stanford, there’s five teams in the current ACC that the Irish have played in at least 20 seasons (BC, Pitt, Miami, UNC, Ga Tech). Give them Syracuse for another game in the “subway alumni” region, Clemson for the national attention, Louisville for a close by matchup, Duke or Wake for a challenging but probable win, and UVA or Va Tech for another strong matchup. Then let them work out their +1 to get a fellow independent like BYU or Army a game, or use them in leverage with the SEC to negotiate a +1 deal for the league across the board to give someone like LSU or Bama a big NC game since they don’t really have an out of league rival like SC-Clemson or UF-FSU.

Then whenever COVID calms down, both sides can pretend like none of this ever happened.

The ACC has it somewhat right with Notre Dame...hit them with the carrot and make them eat the stick....but the Irish just do not need money.

No way will $35 million tempt the Irish to leave their independent ways....they get 8 games and they will be happy this year and wait for next...

Eight plus Navy and and a fill in..10 games.

35 Million is attractive during Covid . ND has plenty of money, but they will be hurt by lack of fans and donations during an economic downturn. Right now they have a perfect excuse for a money grab and not many ND fan's would question the reasoning. You would have some vocal alums that would threaten donation withdrawals but in general it would be received with a which you gonna do attitude (shoulder shrug).
 


Have to see what happens whether UConn remains on UVA and UNC schedules:

So if we want to be a +1 to the ACC we have to hit the road....over and over again. Crud.

I could see all parties mutually agreeing for the UNC and UVA games to be swapped to Syracuse and BC.

Its about go time now on the game of chicken. Does AD David Benedict book some games and commit this school to fall football or does he turn off the phone? The moment of decision is upon us.

UConn schedule - Based on the ACC news of the 10+1 schedule and SEC rumors of conf only schedule.

Looks like UConn will officially have four games left on the schedule when the does settles.
ND's old schedule before 10+1 was announced
