Could be. Could just be Hurley wants to see how the roster shakes out in the spring. Toure is a 6-6 wing. There are 3 wings in that size range in the 2025 class and others coming back. I know he's a CT kid, and more athletic than our other wings, but he still might not be a good roster fit right now. It happens. I remember Ollie didn't recruit Kris Dunn for the same reason because he had a sophomore Boatright and a junior Napier coming back.

That was different. Calhoun wasn't convinced Gomes was a good player. I don't think Gomes was highly ranked as a recruit.
I don’t want to totally derail this thread lol. JC made the argument relative to Emeka and Caron being recruited and on the team. I’d argue that there were multiple other guys on that roster eating up scholarships that weren’t as good as Gomes.

Just my opinion, but I want at least one CT player on the roster of our state university. Not a token CT player to check a box, but if the kid is a top player, no reason not to have one CT player.

It took Wayne Simmone 6 months to convince Tim Welsh to take him
Exactly what I was going to respond also. Gomes was not a highly rated recruit like Toure. He was an overweight 6-7 kid in high school.

Calhoun said that for a different reason. Your assumption is wrong. Ask yourself this, did Emeka and Gomes play similar positions?

Emeka played the 5 and Gomes the 4 from what I recall. It’s ok agree to disagree.

Caron was in the 2000 recruiting class and Emeka and Gomes were in the 2001 recruiting class. Emeka didn't commit to UConn until April/May 2001 (Calhoun didn't even start recruiting Emeka until the spring of 2001) and Gomes had already committed to PC by that time. So Caron was on the team but Emeka was not during the period Gomes was being recruited.

O.K. we disagree. But you're still wrong.
:)
