It was shortly after that performance that Alabama, a Final Four team last season, offered Toure. UConn has shown interest in Toure, 17, who has attended several games and said last summer that he has “been talking to them.” But the two-time defending national champions have yet to offer.

Well it’s one of three things: 1) they’re not going to offer, 2) they might offer depending how other recruits shake out or 3) waiting to offer is some strategy they think will make him more likely to commit (idk maybe they want to make a big deal on an official or something)

It seems hard to believe they have a plan that would involve not offering but it’s also hard for me to see the real benefit behind #3

But what the hell do I know

“I don’t have a favorite no more”? Guessing at one time it was UConn huh.
That could mean anything. He’s a kid after all. Also you have more leverage saying there’s no favorite. Why limit yourself in the NIL era?

Moral of the story is lock up young Pam Anderson before she gets the role on "Home Improvement" and gets the attention of celebs and rock stars.

In this scenario, we're Adam Levine.

It could, but the rumor was he loved UConn and the way he said it he had a favorite.

Option 1 and 2 makes people insanely uncomfortable for some reason.

As far as option 3 we don’t know what kind of conversations they’re having or what the staff envisions for the roster. Hurley doesn’t offer every top 25 kid. They could feel they’re in a good spot without the official offer.

Tin foil hat on here:

From what I heard Toure has never viewed staying in state as his number one choice. Staff may know that he just wants the offer for the look and don’t feel they have a good shot of landing him. Kid may just have his eyes ultimately elsewhere. We’ll see.

He said UConn before these other schools started showing interest. Maybe things have changed in his mind recently, but he wasn't trolling UConn before.

I’m not discounting that. I have on good authority as of a few months ago he didn’t want to stay in state. That may have changed. I’m no insider. I do know a few people in the New Haven County hoops scene. I also heard Tremont Waters wasn’t enthralled with playing at the state U and was more interested in the bag months before he committed. These New Haven County kids don’t view the state U the way we think they do. It’s a strange thing. All in all I know jack **** for certain. I just wouldn’t be shocked if he wants the offer for the look. We’ll see.

Tremont waters was looking for the bag before it was legal. The bag shouldnt be the problem.

Yes. The bag won’t be a problem. But if say a school he really wants to go to offers a similar amount to us I think he’s gone.

Abdou is a great talent-Awesome upside- NBA level game once refined in CBB. Dan and his staff have an eye for talent. They know the kid is legit. My guess-There's more to the story .Seems like a great kid based on interviews .

Free agency and NIL era of CBB is a game changer in recruiting. Another Dybantsa situation? No idea but I know Danny doesn't play that game.

Could be. Could just be Hurley wants to see how the roster shakes out in the spring. Toure is a 6-6 wing. There are 3 wings in that size range in the 2025 class and others coming back. I know he's a CT kid, and more athletic than our other wings, but he still might not be a good roster fit right now. It happens. I remember Ollie didn't recruit Kris Dunn for the same reason because he had a sophomore Boatright and a junior Napier coming back.
