Regarding Abdou Toure, I want to add something. I think he might need a year in a high level prep school. CT HS HOOPS is good, but Toure needs more time against top level players. I know he & his squad went to Poland last summer to face better competition. To start at UCONN's level he needs more strength (which he's working on) and more exposure to top level prep players.
Maybe he stays at NDWH, graduates and then goes to prep and enters with the freshman class of 2027. Or possibly preps next season and then enters college fall of 2026.
Zero chance he goes to 2027. The having to leave public school to be ready thing is so overplayed. He plays for a high level AAU team, he played international ball, his high school team played in Poland and Florida.

People on this board said that big kid from Bristol played against chumps, he was too heavy, and he would be exposed at UConn.

Really? Just like Clingan. When will you learn?

He’s been around New Haven basketball for about 60 years, does radio for Yale and is around the HS game a lot, an Ivy basketball maven too. I’ll actually be a contributing writer for his upcoming Ivy hoops book.
This is all definitely true, but I still don't think I've ever seen him be right about a recruit lol. He said we'd get Tyler Betsey, was hyping UConn for Flagg, etc.

Was any other old-timer reminded of Abdou's Big Boy?
Back in the day when burgers tasted like real meat and brought to your car. Traveling through Ohio would always look for one.

“My mom called me to tell me,” Abdou said on Tuesday. “I was mad about the loss, but I’m always excited for an offer. It’s a big accomplishment.”

And please don't try to interpret that comment that he's not that excited about UConn! I notice when recruits comment on schools people try to dissect each comment on how interested a recruit is in a school and most of the time they're wrong. It's just impossible to do that based on a few written comments. I am surprised Morelli didn't ask more questions. He's no Adam Finkelstein. :)

Call me after he weighs out his NIL deals and signs, until then too early to get excited. The only recruiting window that’s bears watching is summer/fall of signing. Kids don’t commit early and can flip quick.

He is downplaying offer. My kids are in his orbit and not a secret this was the one he was waiting on.
As a general matter, in this NIL world any recruit saying "I'm in heaven over this offer, this is where I see myself playing" is reducing his negotiating leverage when the size of NIL is on the table. Old rules of analysis are gone. You have to assume that all recruits will be much more reserved in their reactions to an offer until they know the NIL package.

My brother, buddy and I used to hit their breakfast buffet back when we were in our 20's. It wasn't pretty.

Everyone’s boy Richard Kent chimes in:

Yeah, I don't know about him being the best sf in the country but I love his upside. He's going to be a shooting guard in college (UConn) and in the NBA.
