They would all have fared better as there would have been a northern coalition. I suspect that they really don't feel a cohesion that they used to have. However, they are definitely benefiting from the large payout that the ACC can give them with the help of ESPN.I think UConn would have fared much better in the ACC than BC, Syracuse, and Pitt, but who knows.

Yes, because I wish I could find a correlation between being in a big money power 5 and a schools ability to fund their athletics properly and have access to key bowl games. Then you are stuck rooting for a team with a better chance to win. Hate that.If you are into rooting for income statements, I would recommend buying stocks and not following college sports.
Bragging about league payouts has a very distinct "my dad owns a dealership" type energy.
Pitt Recruit: Hey Coach, I see all those trophies in the Pitt athletic department trophy case but I don't ever remember Pitt winning any championships. Pitt Coach (football or Basketball): Well son, you must not have been paying attention to our accounting team.I saw the fans of all the teams that left the old big east for P5 are planning a huge blow out party when they get their cut of the payout. Gonna be wild. Those silly Nova fans with their successful team! No check coming in the mail for them!
Yet money is so much a part of college athleticsIf you are into rooting for income statements, I would recommend buying stocks and not following college sports.
Big East Tournament. Nothing else like it.Seeing how the grass hasn't been greener on the court/field, would any of you have 2nd thoughts about joining ACC, B1G or both if invited. I'd still jump in a heartbeat for either. The money is too much to pass up.
That was the point for all of them leaving. But as a fan if the money doesn't help their winning then it's just a disaster. I'd be really turned off as a fan if UConn was lining their pockets with ACC money but the team was never relevant again.
BCU did not jump to the ACC. They snuck in hiding in Miami's butt.if BC hadnt jumped years earlier than everyone else, we would have been selected instead of them come 2013. pitt, lville, and cuse all had vastly better football programs so UConn was easily the odd school out of the four, but the ghost of doug flutie wouldnt have been enough to save BC in 2013. early bird got the worm unfortunately.
Jim Boeheim today:Syracuse fans in the NYC area have to be upset with the move. They had far more opportunities to attend games while in the Big East, including the Main Event, the B.E. Tourney. They started a couple threads about it.
Notre Dame too. Given its football "independence," that program seems like a much better fit in the New Big East.

Obviously never been to the ACC Tournament, especially if UNC-Duke are playing for the title. Plus more people watch it on tv than in personBig East Tournament. Nothing else like it.
Not a millisecond. I think the ACC would be the best competitively. But the Big 10 has more prestigeSeeing how the grass hasn't been greener on the court/field, would any of you have 2nd thoughts about joining ACC, B1G or both if invited. I'd still jump in a heartbeat for either. The money is too much to pass up.
If we went, they would be doing better as well.I think UConn would have fared much better in the ACC than BC, Syracuse, and Pitt, but who knows.
ACC and Big 10 tournaments are garbage in comparison to Big East tournament.Obviously never been to the ACC Tournament, especially if UNC-Duke are playing for the title. Plus more people watch it on tv than in person
Completely agree. Was lucky enough to be at the UConn vs GTown game in 96 my final year at UConn. Went to a few others after that and was always epic. Went to the ACC tournament in Tampa a few years back and wasn't even close.ACC and Big 10 tournaments are garbage in comparison to Big East tournament.
See no reason for slumming.Obviously never been to the ACC Tournament, especially if UNC-Duke are playing for the title. Plus more people watch it on tv than in person
