AAC basketball post UConn?

2021 Massey Conference Ratings - Top 10

There's a big gap between the P6 and the rest. Also, the Big East is ahead of the ACC.

Actually, the gap between the ACC and AAC is smaller than the gap between the the BE and the ACC.

This is pretty accurate. I’d add Xavier to the semi-relevant column. Georgetown won’t say it out loud, but they are effectively deemphasizing athletics, or more correctly following an Ivy League model. This years run was one of those flukes that happen every now and then. The powers at the school will consider it a perfect year any time they win as many as they lose. Just note to that any discussion of the regional coherence of the New Big East kind of ignores the location of Creighton, Butler, DePaul, Marquette, Xavier. Those are all harder to get to from Hartford than Tampa, Orlando, Houston, Dallas. And give me New Orleans over any place in Nebraska.

Not sure how hard you think it is to get to DePaul or Xavier as they have direct flights. Yes, so you need a connecting flight to get to Omaha, Indianapolis, or Milwaukee. But Hartford has (had?) direct flights to Chicago and Cincinnati. And have you forgotten that AAC already HAS a team in Cincinnati?

Regardless, I'm not sure why you compare them to Tampa, Orlando, Houston, or Dallas anyway... those are all longer flights (although direct). But you should be comparing them to Wichita, Tulsa, and Memphis. All of which are one layover flights AND longer flight times. Plus I'd love to know how much more exciting Wichita is than Omaha. I've been to neither, would love a review!

LOL. Yeah sure. Nobody would rate the New Big East ahead of the ACC in the real world. But as they say everybody makes mistakes but to really screw up it takes a computer.

But it really doesn’t matter 5,6,or 7 it is a borderline Major Mid-major league. Villanova is the only reason it is even in the conversation. This whole discussion is like the finale of Camelot. Richard Burton as King Arthur telling the kid to ask ev’ry person if he’s heard the story and tell it strong and clear if he has not, that once there was a fleeting wisp of glory. In this case not Camelot but the Big East and UConn. Alas, the selection of Louisville to the ACC and the abject failure of UConn to build a program in the AAC has relegated us to the world of high mid majors. And most UConn fans are fine with it. For one brief shining moment we expected to compete for the national championship every year. Now we get excited about making the tournament. We have become Seton Hall fans. Sad.
