A One Off or the Start of a Trend?

Did these schools/conferences receive all their media rights feed save bowl appereances?

You know I'm going to try to spin this positively. This can give us a postseason with just the playoff games and the NY6 bowls which could be a pseudo test run for moving away from bowls and actually going to a playoff like literally every other level of college football.
Except for the fact there is still 20 or so bowls with App St v. North Texas in the Myrtle Beach Bowl tomorrow to kick things off.

Rumors are Nebraska wants out too...

>> The USC football team has opted out of playing in a bowl game this season, a decision that was reached collectively today (Dec. 19) by the USC medical team, the Trojan players and staff, head coach Clay Helton and athletic director Mike Bohn.

The decision was made following a recommendation from the USC medical team and discussions with the Trojan football leadership council. The football program has experienced a rise in COVID-19 cases among its players and staff recently, including positive cases this past week. <<

I think playing a bowl game under these circumstances is foolish. The selling point of bowl system is it is a blast for the players and fans. It won’t be fun to quarantine, and no fans. what’s the point?

Players would have to give up xmas with family for a horrible bowl game experience. Easy choice.

And the Rose Bowl is going to be played in Texas at AT&T.

Because putting 400-500 people in a 95k stadium was too much for California and LA County to handle.

These kids have been separated from their families since summer....with Covid, it has been grueling..isolation from family, friends, social life.....

And with no familly at bowls, no outside socializing on the trip...it just isn't a bowl year...

Look at Kelly when he was tweeting that the Irish may turn down the CFP...

"Why would we play if you can't have families at the game? If you can't have families at bowl games, why would you go to a game where your families can't be part of it?"

Too bad that conference bowl tie ins limit choices...with so many bowls cancelled...

The Independence Bowl was locked into Army and the Pac 12 this year...Army was a covid victim...Army had a contracted bowl game and was unlucky.

A mass opt-out of college football programs from participating in the postseason left Army without an opponent for Saturday's Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., per social media reports. The Guaranteed Rate Bowl and Military Bowl were also canceled Sunday, and the Birmingham Bowl was in danger as well.13 mins ago

The idea that 8 teams under .500 are playing in bowl games is so 2020.
