Here's the thing; we actually tried this the last two years, and it wasn't successful. Every time Whitmer threw for a first down, without fail, McCummings was coming in on first down to run the wildcat. NOTHING ruins a QB's timing and momentum like being subbed once every ten yards. That's the issue...

That's an odd comment, seeing as Pasqualoni ran a two quarterback offense for the last two years...

Problem is TJ seems also in the 'nice guy' mold like P. Not what this team needs based on uptick in undisciplined play, with unmotivated a close second.

Still think the playcalling is much better though. . . .heard people bitching about 'not running more after McCombs broke that big run. Think there was some luck there, but a couple of more runs to keep them honest would have been nice. However when youre down 28-10 in the second quarter not a lot of options. Liked the quick hitting passes when CC was in

Pasqualoni was blind to using 3 not 2. Mccummings could have been used at times but what he really needed to do was put in MN on option plays, or use McEntee on longer pass plays. He was clueless. McCummings was one dimensional and defenses knew what was coming, that's not the way to play different QB's. Pasqualoni was clueless at seeing what kind of talent he had and how to use them, that or he was just a stubborn old man.

I would simplify the defense, because that would reduce the number of assignments to remember. The team looks confused. If they haven't learned the more exotic formations yet, they aren't going to. I think the zone defense is a mess, and I would scrap it completely. Let the players play. We aren't going to out coach anyone this year, so we shouldn't try.

Four years of changes should be fixed in 4 months? All the OC/DC/HC changes in the past 4 years, along with the inept coaching of PGDL, will take a lot longer than a month to fix.

While PP may have sucked as a HC he had 2 years + to get the team in a rhythm. Players may not have liked him or GDL but they towed the line.

Take him out of the picture, and that alone, will create chaos on the team. It's a beat up boat with a new rudder and the rudder is all over the place.
 
Watching the team on Saturday, you could tell they are in a tough spot in terms of confidence and energy (which is understandable). At this point, Weist needs to convey that success is defined and measured one play at a time. If they start finding success at winning downs, they'll build some confidence and put themselves in a better position to win.

IMO the coaching has not gotten any worse in the last three weeks, QB play has. I don't blame Boyle, most true freshman play like this which is why most true freshmen sit. P is on record saying he was going to start Boyle too so keeping P would still mean no wins.

Weist needs to sit Boyle for now so his head can stop spinning, it's part of the learning process. Look at all of the starts and stops we had with Frazer, Endres, and Box, and that was the Fiesta Bowl year.

Boyle will learn more by watching Whitmer or Cochran now that he has played. I think Frazer learned by watching Endres.

Well then why make the change after 4 games?
 
You are the first to use "very fast" to describe CC. Lack of speed/mobility are the reason that 1A offers dwindled to UCONN and BC (per Scout). If he had speed, given how well he throws, he probably would be playing elsewhere.
 
I'm still laughing that someone actually compared Casey Cochran to Abbredaris at Wisc. Tell me you're just trolling us.

This team was adrift irregardless if PP stayed or was fired. The virus had to be removed. I respect your opinion Jimmy and I would think you and others would realize, while the players get some blame, they were/are in an impossible situation that can only be felt by the players and coaches. Internet posters...not so much.

I honestly don't know what your connection is, nor do I care, as I've said before - but this is just ridiculous. You are making these players out to be martyrs. They are scholarship athletes that are getting a free ride to an education at a top 20 academic institution in the country. They are getting that ride, to play on the football team.

You keep making it like these players have been abused or something. Verbal abuse? PHysical abuse? A mean, ugly, troll of a screamer coach? What? Did somebody insult somebody? Was a coach a bully? Is Jim Calhoun a bully? Oh wait - he won.......

They better grow some thick skin, quick, if something that a person writes on a internet site bothers them, and they better be doing a hell of a lot better in the classroom, than they are doing on the football field.

Sorry that I didn't take a pass to recognize the thick irony of you calling out the BY for vitriol after suggesting the program is shut down. Why would anyone want to talk football (or anything else for that matter) with the likes of you?

At some point Jim, the players have to man up and accept the hand they were dealt. Life is gonna be filled with much more dire circumstances than this once they get out into the real world.

I think it's funnier that he's playing both sides of the coin - they can't play because of PP, but they also can't play because PP isn't here any longer.

Never answered my question on that. He was pretty clear that Pasqualoni as all over the defense in control of things. How is the defense doing since?
