A $3 Million Donation to UConn Hoops Center That Challenges Ex-Huskies to Step Up

its should be of some concern that the University of Connecticut receives such a large share of its donations targeted to athletics. I think the University has to do a better job to keep a balance between academic and athletics donations. I'm saying this because I donated a couple of bucks early this year to the academic arm and I recently received a magazine stating that a significant amount of the donations are to athletics since 2009 ($65 Million) but I saw only like $7 million for academic scholarships for 2012 (assuming it was about the same per year since 2009 then it would be less than athletics donations) ... If the University wants to increase its academic status it needs many millions donated towards research and endowed professorships

That was an impressive mix of ignorance and the obvious.

The UConn Foundation raised $63,000,000 last year. About $12,000,000 was designated for athletics.

The fact that someone pledged $3,000,000 for athletics today should not be "of some concern"...

It's good news.

That sounds far more appealing. Thanks for the correction. I think that donation tree they had in the latest Magazine confused me a bit...

Also, its not the $3 million donation that concerned me. I was referring to the balance between athletics/academic donations. Must make sure both are campaigned just as aggressively. But you cleared that up for me, so nevermind

Oh, son....if you wrote them a check this year, fear not.

You will see just how aggressively they pursue you for that second check.

We've come to fear the incoming 860 phone call.
