Amazing! Let me see if I have this right, last year UCONN had 3 of the 5 best players in the country & this year UCONN also has 3 of the 5 best, but it is a different 3? At some point , you would think that would translate into team success. :D:D

Is the ESPNw team considered a justification for inclusion on the HoH?
By itself I don't think so. But .. what Mechelle Voepel has done Including all three on First team is going to make it very hard for the other AA team selections to exclude them from a top 10. So I think they are practically on the HOH.

Well this will cause a stir and be bulletin board material. One can hear the carping....Conn based ESPN choosing three of its own. However, anyone who has watched the three UCONN stars in the big games should have no quibbles. I do feel bad for Jones of MD...IMO she had a first team AA kind of year.

Very Impressive. I am happily surprised. I would have thought to push the story of parity, we would max out at 2 on first team and 1 on second team.

On the other hand, I am surprised by Aja Wilson not being unanimous.

On a sadder note, Wilson's 72.2 FG% stat is obviously wrong.
Looking at A'ja Wilson Bio University of South Carolina Official Athletic Site

72.2% is her FT% and her FG% is 58.7%

Probably fodder for a different thread and a serious question:
Would Napheesa, Gabby and KLS go 1, 2 & 3 if the were in 2017 WNBA draft?
An interesting thread indeed. Would they? No. Should they?

Just consider, if those 3 where eligible, they could go 1 2 3 again. But they are only sophomores and junior.

I don't recall seeing 3 players from the same team making a 5-player All-American list. Congrats!

We all believe that Morgan was a top-5 player last year, and she went #3 in the draft, but she was on the 10-player AA teams, not the 5-player teams.

Azura, Napheesa, Lou--in some order.

They wouldn't go 1 2 3. Also, you have to consider who's drafting in those positions and what their needs are.

I think Gabby at present poses the most uncertainty regarding high draft position based on her size and need for a more consistent mid-range jumper. I think she would get drafted in the first round this year but not top 3. Glad there is another year to improve.

What bothers me is if kls doesn't get a poy award this year its going to be tough the next 2yrs if Azura stays for her 4th year.

IMO gabby and nurse will be in the top 5 wnba picks after their senior years. I think chong will be drafted but not on the first round.

San Antonio needs a wing, if Diamond didn't declare, I can't see how you could pass on an elite shooter like Lou.
Chicago has question marks all over there front court, why not take a player like Collier?
The Dallas/Tulsa team has been one of the worse defensive teams for the last few seasons, you could take a player like Gabby who still has a world of potential to get better, or a deadly scorer in Plum. But Dallas has the 3 and 4 pick, so I think all 3 would go no lower then 4. And even in 2018 I expect Williams to be among the first 5 players taken, Wilson, Mitchell, Turner, Canada, Williams, Billings.

These awards are great and well deserved. What it also tells me that unselfish, team first philosophy preached by Geno promotes winning and the individual awards follow. When we look at stats, what more could all these "guys" have put up if they played 4th quarters?
Its a lot of fun watching them play.

Maybe it's been being overly critical of A'ja, but while I think she is a very good player, she hasn't "wowed" me in any of the UConn games and even in the 10-12 other SC games I have watched (notably Tenn and Duke) she did not dominate. If anything, I think her rep got her on 1st team when I think Jones from MD deserved 1st team with A'ja getting 2nd team. Look, A'ja is a greater athlete with more upside than Brionna, I just think Brionna had a better year. I also don't think Wilson's game has evolved as much over her 3 years there.
