OT: 3 Club Golf Tourney--what are you bringing?

I responded to this but it got lost somehow.

I was out practicing a week ago or so and did three experiments on the putting green.

First up, Taylor Made rsi2 PW. Made 7 out of 10 and all 10 were right on line.
Next up, PXG 0311 54-degree. Five out of ten and it took 3 or 4 putts to get a feel for it.
Finally, PXG 58-degree. 6 out of 10 but lipped out two of them.

Out of the three the PW felt most like the putter for weight and feel. 54 degree was blasting putts like I shot them out of a cannon. 58 degree was fine.

Usually I have a 56 or 60 in my hand when it happens. I drained a 12 footer the other day while my caddie was on his way with the putter. I'm pretty comfortable with it. I do it a bunch because I play a lot of solo golf - so easier than running back to the cart if I don't have my putter with me. Just laziness. If I'm in a place where I know I'm going to 2 putt but it is also unlikely I'm going to make it - going back to the cart just burns time. Unless it is very short I will always go back to get the putter for birdie putts.

Honestly, would be less concerned with 5 feet in than lag putting. The harder you have to swing your non-putter, the more likely you are to end up way outside of 5 feet. Some potentially mitigated by putting with a wood/hybrid, but that hot face adds a whole new challenge, especially if you’re switching back and forth between clubs for putts.

Agreed - it works ok when you are on a course with fast, smooth greens that are rolling. Also much better on downhill putts where you just have to get it started in the right direction. Wouldn't do it for a long uphill putt.

5h, 7i, P. I would consider dropping the putter for maybe a sand wedge and just putt with the 5h though.
If I had a 4h in my bag, I'd use that instead of the 5h.

Shot exactly a 99 last weekend. I can't imagine breaking 100 today but I'll do it for the yard

And what clubs did you use?

Are you allowed to change up the clubs for today's round?

I'm too lazy to run through this thread to see if these questions have been asked and answered.
