Doesn't feel like its been 20 years.

I kind of figured Ricky wouldnt be there because of everything that happened. Its just sad because he played such a huge part in winning that championship, and all of those guys deserve to be honored for that. Hopefully things get better and he can be there when UConn honors that team for the 25th anniversary.
Still my favorite part of that last play is how Ricky - who had been guarding Langdon most of the night, switched to guard William Avery on the inbound pass denying him the ball and thus forcing Langdon who was a shooter not a ball handler to bring the ball up and eventually flop on the floor.

The Alaskan Assassin was the only reason they were still in the game at the end. That's what made it so nice when he tripped himself.

In case anyone was wondering, here's the seat availability. Maybe not a sellout, but hopefully something close to Zona attendance wise

It was Jim Nantz - during the broadcast of the championship game who said that.

Actually, I believe it was none other than Billy Packer who shocked everyone when he said something positive about UConn.

Lest anyone forget how much Duke was favored that game, I saved a clipping from the Tampa Tribune titled "Who's gonna win?" Forty-seven sportswriters gave their picks. Only seven picked UConn. The pantload from Lexington picked Kentucky. Old friends Mark Blaudschun and Ken Davis picked UConn by three. Davis saying UConn had done a good job doubling down on big men. Many pickers said UConn couldn't stop Elton Brand. Pat Forde picked Duke by 15 and said he wasn't convinced it would be that close. I'm trying to post the photo but I am encountering sizing issues. Any tips?

Mark Blaudschun has always loved UConn. Never have figured out why he has such affinity for the Huskies. Maybe some connection with Calhoun back in his Boston days?

I get every UConn marketing e-mail and this is the first I've seen this; really bizarre that this is the only place I have seen them push to wear blue, even though I think people do this anyway (compared to white out). They at least tried to market that to a degree for Wichita State, but this is just lazy and really shows how poor the marketing team is:

  • nothing on social media
  • when you go through UConn website to buy tix it says nothing
  • nothing on the ticket indicates this (this would be the most effective if they planned these things before the season started)

this is such basic stuff and they can't do any of it.

EDIT: I finally just got this email at 6:18 PM the day before gameday, better late than never but all the points above still hold true.

So they just tell us it’s a blue out? Holy terrible marketing.

You missed the point.

If you want people to do something, telling people only once (if they even see that) and last minute is a not good way to do it. People forget, people may miss it, people may have never received that one form of communication.

They have a plethora of ways to get a message out and they opted to use only one of them, only once, and last minute. You don't need an MBA to get this stuff right, so I don't know why they can't do it properly.

I also got the email at 618. I was however planning on wearing one of my forty odd blue UConn shirts as I do every game.

Can someone describe what they did for this? I was hoping they would show some of it, but they only showed a snippet of RIP and JC.

They did a great job during the broadcast. Lots of highlights and stuff. ESPN did a good job with it.

Yes but they didn’t show the halftime tribute at the XL. I was wondering what they did there.

Throughout the game they had a quick one on one interview with a couple players. Then at halftime they played a tribute video of the 1999 team followed by introducing coach and every player in attendance at center court individually. Calhoun then gave a brief speech and then they played One Shining Moment 1999.
