USJ (78) JCS (30) - Haylen Ayers #20 in white
Going into the season, I thought other teams in her Top 5 besides her mother's alma mater Vanderbilt would have a good chance to gain her signature. But, now, after the success the 'Dores have shown and the offensive productivity of Blakes and freshman Galvan, I have a hard time believing Ayers ends up anywhere other than Vanderbilt. She could join those two players in the starting lineup in 2027 and light it up offensively like they are doing. If Vandy gets to the Sweet 16 or better, that will really help Vandy's chances, IMO.
I think it’s between Vandy and UConn. Two unofficials to UConn (from Tennessee) and Geno flying to see her tells me tere’s serious interest from both parties.
Thanks for the link. It’s great to hear that her mom is not pushing Haylen to Vandy. It’s also very good news to hear that Ayers has done a deep dive on her finalists. Her mom hasn’t been pushing her toward Vanderbilt, Ayers said.
“She just wants what's best for me,” Ayers said. “Obviously she’d love for me to go (to Vanderbilt) and continue the legacy she built there. But she just wants what's best for her daughter. She wants to see her little girl shine.”
Ayers said she’s already done a deep dive on her finalists’ offenses and defenses and where she might fit in. She wants to find a place that doesn’t just present a pretty picture on social media.
