2026 Transfer portal

What makes you think she's looking at Michigan? Not saying she wouldn't be a good edition, but there are a lot of schools she could fit in well at. Also, Michigan's recruiting has brought in some talented players with more coming in. Trying to see how she would fit in without displacing someone else.
I’m sure there are other fits, but I’m assuming she wants to go somewhere vying for a natty and Michigan came to mind first. And for any team a deep bench would help you get there.

Unless it's a toxic situation, I hope Crooks stays. Her identity is tied to Iowa State and since she probably doesn't have much of a pro career ahead of her, she really needs to work on cementing her college legacy. One year elsewhere, no matter how good of a season, will disrupt all of that.

That could be relevant.

Ever since Swords' younger sister signed with Kentucky in November as part of their 2026 high school recruiting class, my mind was telling me to watch if older sis ends up transferring to Kentucky so they can play together a couple of seasons.

Including a Princeton player, notable because their season isn't close to over. Must be a story.

It will be interesting to see how many more from Tennesse enter:

St Rose is going to be an excellent pick up for some school......I hope she stays in NJ where she's from........I was very impressed with Prawl as a high school player and was surprised how little action she saw at Tennessee.......if UConn wasn't already stacked, she'd be well worth considering.....

Iowa State feels like a program playing like it’s 2010. Bill Fennelly hasn’t adapted his system, culture, or player development. Egregious to never finish higher than 4th in the Big 12 in three tries with Brown/Crooks
I don't see enough to know about that, specifically, but at one time they were known for three point shooting - as in, in general, if you couldn't hit the 3, you didn't make the team. I don't see that anymore. Among other schools where that also applied was Harry's Villanova.

On the Michigan idea.

I think brown is pretty similar to Olson.
In my opinion, Olson is a very diversified offensive player who is an attacking wing. If she reminds me of anyone, it's a more physical Payton Verhulst/Sonia Citron..

Addy Brown reminds me of Leigha Brown, who was a workmanlike forward for Nebraska and Michigan. Solid, did dirty work, then would score when necessary.

She's from Kansas, but I have no idea if she'll want to return home. She always expressed how much she liked it at Iowa State, so if she's leaving, my guess is she'll go somewhere where she can win and develop her game. I would think of a whole lot of schools that would welcome her to round out a team. Rather than Michigan, I think she'd find more of a role on two other B1G teams that start with M: Michigan State or Minnesota.

That could be relevant.

Why? The Swords sisters lived with one another at Lutheran. She and Olivia O. are tearing it up at Michigan...the younger one could've gone to Michigan (or ND for that matter) and chose to carve her own way. Just don't see that happening....I'll buy you a beer if you're right.

Audi is an interesting one, her strengths are massive but so are her weaknesses. Addy Brown will be a more coveted transfer for elite level programs IMO.

That said, Audi is no slouch and should fine a home at a very good program if she enters the portal. Elite teams who could benefit from her services include:

Maryland - they need post production. Have a slew of good guards coming back. Brenda develops talent very well and prioritizes offense. This would be the most optimal landing spot IMO, especially with Okananwa and Smikel both back as seniors.

Oklahoma - closer to home and they need help inside with Beers graduating. 3pt shooters to space the floor and Baranczyk is a good offensive coach.

Vanderbilt - they'll have great guard play and terrific passers in Galvan/Blakes. Washington/Pissott are graduating so they need help inside. I could see this being a good landing spot for her.

Texas - they need a second post with Oldacre graduating. Realistically Vic would do a terrific job of getting Crooks into better shape and forcing her to play defense, but she wouldn't be playing more than 20ish minutes per game in Austin.

Michigan - they have terrific guard play and shooters to space the floor. She'd be a major upgrade offensively from Sofilkanich.

Notre Dame - join and play with Hannah Hidalgo for a season. Ivey will be hunting for transfers this offseason since they lack size inside.

Side note: it's eye opening seeing how many teams need quality post players, meanwhile at South Carolina they're straight up hoarding post players lol. Look the players projected on next year's roster:
6'7 Alicia Tournebize
6'6 Madina Okot
6'5 Adhel Tac
6'4 Kelsi Andrews
6'3 Joyce Edwards
6'3 Ashlyn Watkins
6'2 Chloe Kitts
6'2 Kaeli Wynn

Maybe Kentucky is offering more NIL than Michigan in women's hoops? I have no idea. I did not follow the younger Swords sister's recruitment, but I was definitely surprised she signed with Kentucky.

You can keep watching but Syla Swords isn't leaving Michigan.

Michigan bound? Would say Indiana, but she would be a one man team since everyone else is already leaving.
Do you know if Navea Caffey is transferring? She is from the St. Louis area and played at Incarnate Word Academy.

I’d love to see her (Addy Brown) at UConn.
Like Sarah her passing and rebounding would fit right in with Uconn's style and needs. Can enable Sarah to play quite a bit at the 3, and Blanca some at the 2. The big lineup option however much Geno would use it, would be a very viable choice that might be as good as the small ball or more traditional lineup. All three lineups could be used depending on specific game and matchup needs.

If I were Geno I would go for it.

If she wants to stay in the Midwest, I could definitely see Minnesota. Michigan State would be interesting, as well as Iowa but I don’t think she’d go there. Missouri would be a pretty good fit, especially if Harper can draw another name or two out the portal to pair with Slaughter.

I thought Fennelly was going to burn the Iowa State program to the ground trying to get a good season to finish his career but looks like he's doing it this year rather than in 2027. Wonder if the exodus stops with Addy Brown or if he has even more defections.

Plus, Kentucky has Maddyn Greenway coming in to play the point. She’s going to be a souped up Georgia Amoore before she’s done.

I’d love to see her (Addy Brown) at UConn.

1.Not even April and the Husky greed is starting.

They always are up to something like that.... Like back in 2014-15 and with Boston and Cardoso a few years ago. Chickens are greedy animals. They don't like to share

I agree. I mean if your daughter was a top recruit and you watched this year unfold what would you say your kid?? Stay with your commitment??
I would. As long as there was no physical or inappropriate behavior going on, and my daughter felt safe, I would suggest that she honor her commitment to the program. Now in the long run, it would be my daughter's decision, and I would support her 100%

St. Rose is really a senior, played 4 years, one year she played a few games then injured, so NCAA gives another year, but Ivy says you get 4 years and you are done. I don't think they give you a red shirt. I think same when we got a starting pt guard from Princeton, she got a covid year, but Ivy says 4 and done. And the Princeton coach is a UConn grad as we all know. In any event I think this is same situation, she wants to go to another level to see how good she can be. She would be good for UConn if we needed another guard, but we don't.

There would be a real challenge for any school that might bring in Crooks as a transfer. Crooks is effective at Iowa St because the Cyclones have essentially built their offense around her. Crooks gets 20-30 touches every game. So for example, ND, who currently runs their offense through HH, would need to shift much of their offense to Crooks in the low post.

I can’t imagine Crooks going somewhere that she would merely become a role player who scores in the teens. Beyond that, Crooks is a one year rental with limited defensive ability and stamina for any team that pushes the pace.

If Crooks chooses to remain in college, her best option is to stay at Iowa State.
