A guy who plays incredibly physical defense but “doesn’t foul”
Really have no idea what the staff is thinking at this point - it's hard to know given the mish mosh of talent overlapping. We know they want Mullins & they have Ross back. Ross doesn't tell us much as my guess as he'll assume the same role with more playing time next year, perhaps fight with Landrew for the 3.I don't disagree, but he makes better decisions than some of our other players. I don't think we know what Mullins is doing yet. Ross is back but I think he's sharing time with Landrew. We need two 5s and a 4, plus a backup PG.
Roster construction at the moment is not great. We have three SGs, one PG, two SFs and one swing forward plus whatever Furphy is, most likely a 4th SG. I think Hurley expected Solo would have made a leap by now and be gone.
If Solo wasn't hurt all season and both Braylon and Solo were hitting around 40% on their threes there wouldn't be any of this talk about them not being able to play together. They both shot way below their ability and we still made the championship game and with fair refs in that game we're probably talking about how we won 3 national championships in 4 seasons. We need to replace Tarris, AK, and Reibe.I don't disagree, but he makes better decisions than some of our other players. I don't think we know what Mullins is doing yet. Isn't Mullins suppose to make a decision soon? I'm guessing we will really see things move once Mullins announces his decision.Really have no idea what the staff is thinking at this point - it's hard to know given the mish mosh of talent overlapping. Yes but if we're being reasonable we can't make wild speculations and what fun is thatIf Solo wasn't hurt all season and both Braylon and Solo were hitting around 40% on their threes there wouldn't be any of this talk about them not being able to play together. There can be a decision to enter the draft or not, but the decision to enter the draft then comes with the eventual decision of whether to return or not.Isn't Mullins suppose to make a decision soon? I'm guessing we will really see things move once Mullins announces his decision.
Yeah I was just stating this post that came from the Mullins thread. I would think if he is coming back it will be UConn. There can be a decision to enter the draft or not, but the decision to enter the draft then comes with the eventual decision of whether to return or not.
Doesn't answer much. We now have 6 guys across the 2-3 with Mullins back. Something has got to give.If Solo wasn't hurt all season and both Braylon and Solo were hitting around 40% on their threes there wouldn't be any of this talk about them not being able to play together. Solo is going to be in a NBA prove it year after falling off a cliff this year, injured or not. If Mullins is back, who knows what he's thinking as well.
I wonder if we are going to groom County as the backup PG as I think he rated too high not to see some playing time in our system? It will be interesting what direction we go based on the decisions on who is coming back. Like noted by Ruff Ruff that Ross coming back doesn't really tell us much yet.I don't disagree, but he makes better decisions than some of our other players. I don't think we know what Mullins is doing yet. Ross is back but I think he's sharing time with Landrew. We need two 5s and a 4, plus a backup PG.

The exact same was true coming into this year. I know idle speculation is fun but it doesn’t help anythingTwo guys basically play the exact same role - they may not want to share reps this year in big years for both
3 of the 4 guys (Silas, Ross, Stew), I'd comfortably pencil in at 35-40% 3pt shooting. Maybe even better. One (Mullins) severely underperformed this year at 33%, and if he comes back, I bet he'd shoot 38% minimum.Brutal offensive lineup
Color me curious as to what direction Hurley goes in with all this. It feels like it can go 12 different ways. Right now it feels like everyone is waiting on the primary domino to drop (Mullins).3 of the 4 guys (Silas, Ross, Stew), I'd comfortably pencil in at 35-40% 3pt shooting. Maybe even better. Mullins already has a elite midrange game and would come back with that plus I would surmise a better slashing/driving
I would feel very confident that JRoss and JStew will both do more than just shoot 3s next year.
I wouldn't call that brutal at all.
He had his moments including that Villanova game right before he was injured. He has never quite lived up to the skillset he had coming into the program but has shown it in glimpses. It is nice to have continuity coming off the bench and he improved his D a lot from from his Sophomore year. We could do a lot worst with him coming off the bench. He is also a good athlete when healthy coming off the bench at the 4 or 3.I just don’t understand why people are so comfortable bringing Stewart back. 90% of the season we were desperate for an impactful experienced player off the bench. He was given every opportunity to be that player and failed. I have to imagine we can upgrade that role in the portal at a decent cost.
I'm not saying it's impossible. But Ross earned 20 minutes. Landrew is worthy of 15-20 minutes. There are no minutes at the 3 for Mullins. If he's back, he's a 2. That's the reality and it's a good thing because he's better than Solo on both sides of the ball. Maybe he won't be back, but County probably wants to play a bit too, where are his minutes coming? If Solo wasn't hurt all season and both Braylon and Solo were hitting around 40% on their threes there wouldn't be any of this talk about them not being able to play together. we could see Landrew getting minutes at the 4 if we land a big Center.I'm not saying it's impossible. But Ross earned 20 minutes. Landrew is worthy of 15-20 minutes. We need to replace Tarris, AK, Reibe and Smith. But the first three are almost certainly going to be downgrades from last year. Our best chance to be really good again is to upgrade at 2 and 3.
You think 6’4 CG Junior County is seeing minutes at the 4?! Not a chance. Stew, Ross, and Landrew will likely all see backup minutes there in smaller lineups.we could see County getting minutes at the 4 if we land a big Center.

Sorry meant Landrew. I guess trying to work and posting on here I'm having issues. LOL! I guess I'm not good at multi-tasking. County would be a backup PG. No way would I have him at PF. My bad.You think 6’4 CG Junior County is seeing minutes at the 4?! Not a chance. Stew, Ross, and Landrew will likely all see backup minutes there in smaller lineups.
If we can bring back Silas, Solo, Mullins to go with Ross, Landrew, County...that is a top 15 team right there. Add a center and a quality 4 man...top 5.If Solo and Mullins are both back which I think they will be they will be starting at the 2 and 3.
You're crazy if you think we're upgrading over Solo and Mullins. That will probably be the best starting combo in the country at those positions.
I agree that would be his ideal role if Mullins comes back but do you think he will come back for his Sr. year to come off the bench? I highly doubt it.I think Solo should take a page out of Wagner from Arkansas book and come off the bench.
He's the ideal 6th man of the year candidate as someone who can be instant offense but lacks defensive ability.
I think it’s a bit ambitious to pencil that in, especially on expected higher volume.3 of the 4 guys (Silas, Ross, Stew), I'd comfortably pencil in at 35-40% 3pt shooting. Maybe even better. One (Mullins) severely underperformed this year at 33%, and if he comes back, I bet he'd shoot 38% minimum.

I thought you weren't into declarative posts? If Solo and Mullins are both back which I think they will be they will be starting at the 2 and 3.

That’s the question. I’m honestly not too sure. We have a great culture with that class so maybe? But also with Hurley’s loyalty I’m not sure if he would do that to him either.I agree that would be his ideal role if Mullins comes back but do you think he will come back for his Sr. year to come off the bench? I highly doubt it.
Again with the wild speculation.I thought you weren't into declarative posts?
I'm not entirely sure on how this plays out and if it's that point blank. If it was, I think you'd see some Solo news by now. If him being the 2 isn't contingent on Mullins, you'd think he'd be locked up alongside Ross. BTW, I said it wasn't 100% Mullins was going into the draft, which you were also declarative on it being. You should follow what you preach, especially when you're wrong a ton.
Solo's BPM is the worst of every player that saw regular minutes. I know he was hurt, but he can't pass, doesn't rebound well and is the worst defender we have by a huge margin. Ross/Landrew + Mullins is >>>> Solo + Mullins. So no, not the best duo at those positions, even on our team.If Solo and Mullins are both back which I think they will be they will be starting at the 2 and 3.
