2026 Recruiting: Sara Okeke

I saw this today, in regards to Sara Okeke…

We're proud to announce that five student-athletes have been named 2026 McDonald’s All American Nominees, a prestigious national recognition reserved for the game’s elite high school basketball talent.

On the boys’ side, Nathan Kirk earned nomination honors. Representing the girls’ program, nominees include GiGi Battle, Chikae Desdunes, Sther Ubaka, and Sara Okeke.
 
The other good news is that the Florida last championship game (7 classes) is on March 14th, and the NCAAs start for the women on 20 March (Friday) or 21 March (Saturday) this year (UConn won't be in the first 4, of course). With 8 games remaining in the regular season, March (St. John's on 3/1/26 and then Big East Toruney @ Mohegan Sun (3/6/-3/9 (UConn's days: Sat-Mon as #1 seed))) will be upon us in no time at all.

Sara posted earlier that she would be seriously considering resuming her campus visits after the (FL) High School season is over.

March 21st (or March 20th) would be a good time for Sara Okeke to visit Storrs! The Men should be hosting around that time as well (currently #3 in the nation...). (four other schools might be having the same situation: Michigan, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, and Duke for the sixteen possible campus hosts for the 1st two rounds).

Go Huskies, keep the wins coming one play at a time!!!

I saw a few months ago that UConn, LSU, South Carolina and Texas were her top 4. Is that still the case?

She visited SCar back in the early Fall preseason but speculation is that her interest dwindled after we signed Tournabize . FWIW since then she has taken two officials to none the four you mention.

Every high recruit seems to get mentioned as having interest in the top programs of her recruiting year.

Apparently, Okeke will be visiting Kentucky for their upcoming game against Vanderbilt.

This is really big news for Kentucky. I wonder if Okeke follows any current UCONN players, or the coaching staff. I would imagine that Sara and Olivia Vulkosa would follow each other.

Looks like Sara Okeke will be visiting Texas when the Longhorns host Kentucky on Monday.

She’ll see the Cats in action twice over the next several days.

Texas women's basketball isn't messing around on the court nor on the recruiting trail...

The Longhorns are set to host a 6-foot-9(!) center on Thursday night with LSU in town, before two more big visits in the coming days, including one recruit who's widely considered the best available prospect in 2026

Texas is looking good - they demolished LSU last night and their freshman Crump plays like a veteran like our Blanca. They will be a big obstacle for us to get past in the tournament and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Sara Okeke picks them for her college journey.

The competition for Okeke is a long list. UCONN is one of her favorites from what I have read. Hopefully she connects well with the UConn players and coaches.

I saw that last night. I really hope she has an official visit with UConn scheduled soon, I think Sara would be an amazing player on this team and the perfect combination with Olivia Vulkosa.

I have looked at several different recruiting sites and they all show that Okeke has real interest in UCONN and vice versa. Fingers crossed for Sara to be a Husky.
 
I hate to be negative Nancy, but she sure seems to have a lot of serious interest in these other schools that she's lining up visits to. Maybe Geno and Company have another Ace up their sleeve with a different European player that we don't know about.

And maybe for whatever reason, UConn doesn't still have the same level of interest as everyone assumes. If they did they probably would be bringing her in for a OV also with only a couple of months until signing day.

does anybody know if she has taken any OFFICIAL VISITS yet? She seems to have taken a number of unofficial visits but none have been tagged as officials yet

The visit to Indiana this weekend does not appear to be an official visit. If it is, I am not seeing anything to reflect that.
I am not sure how current this information is but On 3 had Sara’s top 3 as, UConn, Indiana and Tennessee.

The information, from On 3, could be old information, as everything is so fluid. Sara has been to both Kentucky and Indiana a couple of times, so who knows.
I am still rooting for Okeke to be a Husky. Sara and Vulkosa would be great rim protectors.

No major score needs a big as much us USC does. If they have a Brinks truck, now is the time and Okeke is that player…..

Didn't they get that with 2026 6'4 Sitaya Fagan out of Australia? I just noticed that she enrolled at USC in January but I guess is going to redshirt.
 
Coach Valley and Heckel are both following Okeke. Hopefully, UConn secures an official visit with Sara.

She doesn’t have to burn a redshirt for a half season if she doesn’t play .
